Zack you listed the present population of the state of Kentucky as 2,640,500 and the Commonwealth's population as 2,440,500. Since the Commonwealth includes territory outside the OTL state borders of Kentucky, how much of that population is in state Kentucky? [[User:Mitro|Mitro]] 20:29, March 30, 2010 (UTC)

The population of survivor states seem to be a liitle high for any post nuclear holocaust environment. 5 million in California? 1 million seems steep.

Revision as of 20:41, 30 March 2010

Since we are getting more articles like these I figure we should have an article where we can list them all. Mitro 20:23, March 21, 2010 (UTC)

England

It might be an idea to have a similar article for the various counties of England as there has been a recent increase in the number of English survivor states Verence71 20:45, March 21, 2010 (UTC)
I'm a little concerned with the growing number of British survivor states. Used to be we only had two (not counting New Britain), now we are up 4. The UK would have gotten hit hard during DD, even the British government thought so. I think we first need to finalize what got hit before we graduate anymore survivor states. Mitro 21:01, March 21, 2010 (UTC)
That's understandable Verence71 21:46, March 21, 2010 (UTC)
Just like to make it clear that I am not saying any of the current proposals are implausible, only that I want to verify what exactly was hit in Britain before we proceed. Maybe a Doomsday in the United Kingdom or just an article on the United Kingdom which focuses on DD and the post-history. Mitro 21:48, March 21, 2010 (UTC)
Would we be taking Square Leg as gospel in the sense of what was hit?? Verence71 21:51, March 21, 2010 (UTC)
No, of course not. I think the wiki article even has some criticisms of it. But it would be persuasive, as would be any other sources we can find about potential nuclear targets in the UK. Mitro 21:56, March 21, 2010 (UTC)

Rhode Island, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and Block Island

Rhode Island would be the one state I believe the most likely to have absolutely no survivors. I'm open to correction on this, but I believe there couldn't be any place for anyone to survive in a) due to the state's very small size and b) strikes on Providence and Newport would cover most of the state. Look at the FEMA map - http://www.ki4u.com/nuclearsurvival/states/ri.htm. That said, I suppose IF someone is looking for a place where something might have survived, it would be in Westerly, in the southwest corner of the state along the Connecticut border (and affected by the waves from the New London, Connecticut blasts). What about Block Island? I don't believe it would be a target. It has a small population (only about one thousand), but it might be difficult for them to feed even that, especially with the radiation dose the are will receive. Mitro 21:43, March 21, 2010 (UTC)

Possibly....and by the way, when you create articles do you ever come across things like this, that you should have known about and addressed long ago? Block Island (which I never heard of) may not have survived on its own, but it's entirely possible the people would have chosen to flee for Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket...which now that I think about it we need to discuss. I don't believe Vermont would have discovered them. Remember much of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut were nuked, including all of the coastal areas; with Nashua also being nuked Vermont/New Hampshire could not establish any kind of presence on the Atlantic for years (perhaps until very recently) because of the radiation and damage. The Vermont scouts would have had to go through nuked areas to get to the coast, and they had plenty to deal with internally and with the warlords in Conn. and Mass.

The question perhaps then is who survived at Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, and what kind of civilization did they develop? I'm going to create the article...anyone have any ideas, let's hear them. BrianD 01:31, March 22, 2010 (UTC)
