Just to let you know, but Katakana is usually used for transcription of foreign language words into Japanese, while Hiragana is used for native Japanese words. However if the Hiragana script doesn't exist in your timeline then never mind.
Having said that, you still can write native Japanese words into Katakana, though it's rare. -Kogasa
