Prime Minister Albert Camille Vital may have been in the USSR in 1983. The Wikipedia article says he trained (as an engineer?) in the USSR, and began his political career in 1987. Also, with strained relations with the USA and France, and an alliance with the USSR at the time of Doomsday, this apparently isolated land may not have started the reforms that got it to where it is today. The past twenty-five years there have been tumulturous in OTL. Without the influence of USA and France, and a Asian USSR, things could have gone quite differently.SouthWriter 04:57, February 2, 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think anyone is a caretaker of this article. Feel free to work on it. Mitro 04:20, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

- I finally took a Sunday afternoon to do a quick article. The history of Madagascar probably did not change much, though I think the move to democracy was helped considerably by the demise of the socialist goverments in the USSR and France. The only change I made was with the prime minister, due to the above concern. Vital was a last minute replacement for acting prime minister Cécile Manorohanta anyway. That appointment is only months old as I write this.
- However, due to the military coup, and the unconstitutionality of the present "president," I think that the League of Nations might just have revoked the membership of Madagascar last year.SouthWriter 22:12, February 28, 2010 (UTC)
I have worked on the present situation, and have only two problems. First, I left the former president of OTL Mozambique in as mediator in the 2009 talks as a "place holder." And second, it seems in OTL the president put in Vital because he was military. I think the situation may work out in the ALT better if he had not done that. However, not much else is different internally in Madagascar. It is a mess, no matter how we cut it. A news article on the WCRB NewsHour is needed to cover this week's talks - if they happen.
Who should have been a mediator between the Madagascar presidents? And do you think we should assume Vital made it back from Russia - or had been home already - in order to take his place in TTL?SouthWriter 21:21, March 1, 2010 (UTC)
