The entire Kwantung Army was extremely radical - there's no way that any of them would have gone along with this.

Given how the Chinese Civil War played out, without Manchuria, the Communists lose. They were well on the way to doing so otl, and then the Soviets dropped Manchuria into their laps, including all the weapons the surrendering and fleeing Japanese left behind. Elsewhere in China, they either ended up in RoC hands, or American ones. Without those weapons, they would lose, or at least not "win" like the RoC managed on Taiwan otl, but in the northern mountains somewhere.

And, obviously, this Manchuria, being anti-communist, won't give any of the arms to the Communists. Immensely more difficult for the Soviets to supply them now, too. And, they will not get Manchuria to use as a power base, like otl. And, the RoC won't waste its best troops and supplies in the northern cities like otl, either.

Have a look at this map, which shows a fair amount of what I mean. Note the amount of territory they have outside of Manchuria, which is not much.

Indeed. I believe the only way the Communists could've survived without Manchuria, would be with intense Russian aid - which seems rather unlikely. Annexing Puyi's petty empire and creating a foothold for Mao's rebels and a supplied "base of operations" there is simply the only sane thing to do. And with the hardships the Manchus put the Chinese people through in mind, it would only be logical for the victorious (People's) Republic of China to bring Manchuria back into the fold and perhaps even punish Puyi for his treachery, despite his miraculous turn-around. Lastly, although I'm not quite sure about the numbers of IJA divisions in Manchukuo at that time, wouldn't Hirohito still have the chance to avenge Puyi's secession from the Axis by ordering his (and the still loyal Manchu) troops to basically slash-and-burn everyone and everything in sight? --XterrorX 13:38, August 9, 2011 (UTC)
So, may I continue this TL or have some suggestions to revise it?

Basically, just remove the stuff about the PRC and replace it with the ROC. Best the PRC would be is holding parts of Inner Mongolia, and that much is highly doubtful. Lordganon 08:44, August 10, 2011 (UTC)

OK. No more PRC. Maybe the Soviets invade and annex Xinjiang, though this is highly doubtful, though. Still don't know about Tibet, though.

Xinjing was at the time held by some of their associates, so it's not that far-fetched. Tibet being independent is still logical, too. Lordganon 17:50, August 10, 2011 (UTC)

Should not be A.S.B, this is understandble in the right circumstances.

I offer this up as a way to contribute to the timeline, as I felt confident enough to try and I found the scenario interesting enough. I hope this works with the scenario as its early form, but can always be improved.
