One thing to think about. *Here*, Canadians had wished to use the name Kingdom of Canada, but Dominion was chosen largely to appease staunch anti-monarchical sentiments in the United States, which still had a large army left over from the then-recent Civil War, and was still bitter over British aid to the Confederacy. With the US being much weaker, it's possible that Kingdom of Canada may well have won acceptance in that timeline. With Canada becoming a Kingdom, other British colonies would follow the same model when gaining independance, thus Kingdom of Australia, Kingdom of South Africa, etc. - Nik 23:29, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
