Alternative History

After a campaign to "save" the motherland, you suppose that a new constitution would cut all strings with her? What would the sense of this be? The queen is only a "figurehead" over the affairs of state in Britain. I see no reason why a land not significantly affected by the downfall of Europe would abandon its heritage like that.

New Zealand, in a world with the USA so prominent in the Pacific, would be a key ally in the fight against communism in Asia. It would be a key economic partner as well, receiving even more revenue in TTL than in OTL. Such wealth could significantly improve the motherland, and reduce the migration of British subjects to the Commonwealth members. Mainland Europe would be strained to a breaking point. But by 1986, Britain would have had time to recover, even without outside help.

As this article evolves, you will need to focus on its relationship with the other nations of the Pacific Rim - from Chile, to Canada, to China. Co-ordinate it with articles about these nations and it can grow into an interesting article. I wish you the best as you work on it. --SouthWriter 23:53, July 1, 2010 (UTC)

Well, I don't see a Chilean or Canadian page, you're going too fast, we have just started this Althist.--Sunkist- 23:56, July 1, 2010 (UTC)

You're right, Sunkist, we have only just begun. However, I am still active at 1983DD, or want to be anyway, and I don't want this ATL to suffer from misconception based on poor planning that might get "set in stone" early on. That is why I mention your article "evolving" - changing over time to adjust to other articles that define the time line. When you write about one country, you have to think about what is happening in other related countries. If it hasn't been written yet, then try to imagine what might be happening in an altered history of another country. What you write about that country in passing might very well be used by another writer. --SouthWriter 04:36, July 2, 2010 (UTC)

Alright, I try and fix it up.--Sunkist- 05:57, July 2, 2010 (UTC)

Wouldn't they at least continue to recognize the Queen? I mean, you can still have her as your leader and not be controlled by her. Arstarpool 16:47, July 2, 2010 (UTC)
