Why would he be Crowned in Frankfurt and not the capital of Berlin?

Just a guess but many old monarchies have a specific place for their monarch sto be crowned which is not be in the capital. Usualy it is due to some historical tradition and/or an effort not to give too much power to any one place.--Marcpasquin 14:29, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
Efectively. Frankfurt was the traditional place of coronation of the Holy Roman Emperors, and it was chosen for the coronation by tradition. The capital is indeed Berlin. --Carlos Th (talk) 15:22, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
But, why the place of coronation for the Holy Roman Emperors? The Holy Roman Empire had been dead since Napoleon's time. Shouldn't it have been wherever the former German Emperors were coronated, which I would assume was Berlin, but I don't know that for a fact. Or possibly where the Austrohungarian Emperors were crowned (Vienna?) - Nik 15:59, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
Symbolism could have played an important factor in the choice, a way of going back to the original empire.--Marcpasquin 16:07, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
