Areas of countries[]

The Melanesian Republic is comprised of the islands of New Guinea, Bismark Arch, Solomon Island, Santa Cruz, Vanuatu, Fiji, and New Caledonia. Willster22 (talk) 12:11, July 5, 2012 (UTC)

Ok and the reason I put all of that because those are all the islands that comprise the real life region of Melanesia. Willster22 (talk) 12:33, July 5, 2012 (UTC)
I'll see how much of that you can fit into 300px and your two 150 px vassals!! :D Imperium Guy 12:19, July 5, 2012 (UTC)
The vassals will be the New Caledonian Republic and Republic of Tonga. Also are the vassals independant and are other players able to play as them or are they mine and I indent in under my post and put their stuff? Willster22 (talk) 12:42, July 5, 2012 (UTC)

No, no. Vassals are your own and you play them. Its just it vassals are not completely part of your country, they can keep their interests. :D Imperium Guy 12:49, July 5, 2012 (UTC)

I'd be careful about limiting vassals after all many nations in real life have had extensive amounts of vassals, the best way to deal with them is to have limits on the way they affect gameplay, which I'll build into the rules of course :) Kunarian (talk) 13:02, July 5, 2012 (UTC)
Ok! But this is just for the first century as you cannot have 10 vassals in your first century of existence as that would be kinda implausible. :D Imperium Guy 13:21, July 5, 2012 (UTC)
It'd put them in minus stats anyways, then you could do awesome moderator events and kill them :L Kunarian (talk) 14:20, July 5, 2012 (UTC)

Can I post my flag yet? Willster22 (talk) 13:03, July 5, 2012 (UTC)

Of course, you can (as long as it is sensible and has something to do with your country!) :D Imperium Guy 13:16, July 5, 2012 (UTC)

The Perisan Empire covers iran and a bit of iraq if possible Axyljohnson 15:19 July 5th

The United States of the Albemarle encompasses most of the islands of the northern Outer Banks of North Carolina (as far south as Cape Hatteras), including Roanoke Island, areas around the Croatan Sound, areas around the Albemarle Sound, and north into southern Virginia, which includes Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Newport News. CourageousLife (talk) 16:23, July 5, 2012 (UTC)

Vassals: Duraleigh- cities of Durham and Raleigh, including Chapel Hill, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Clayton, and Zebulon. Wilmington- city of Wilmington, as far south as Oak Island, and as far north as Hampstead. CourageousLife (talk) 21:31, July 5, 2012 (UTC)

Piedmont covers OTL South Carolina which includes the Greeneville-Spartanburg Area, and includes the cities of Asheville, Anderson, and Columbia, and borders its two vassal states to the south. Enclavehunter (talk) 17:05, July 5, 2012 (UTC)

Vassals: Charleston - city of Charleston - as far south as Hilton Head Island and borders the vassal state of Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach - city of Myrtle Beach - includes Conway, Georgetown, goes as far north as the OTL border of South Carolina - North Carolina.

The Roman Republic covers the Italian region of Lazio as well as parts of surrounding regions. In other words it has as much of central Italy as I can start out with. The vassals are the Kingdom of Sicily and the Republic of Monaco.

Angland1

Bretta, Mercia and Angland from left to right

Angland looks like this with it's two vassals Bretta (to the west) and Mercia (in the center). Kunarian (talk) 17:23, July 5, 2012 (UTC)

The Kingdom of Tunisia will be approximately the northern part of OTL Tunisia. Tunisia will have two vassals, Malta and Calamine (southern Sardinia). Oshawott3What? That's crazy! 21:22, July 5, 2012 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but that country is already taken! :/ Imperium Guy 22:05, July 5, 2012 (UTC)
Tunisia isn't taken yet, nor is Malta or Sardinia. Kunarian (talk) 16:09, July 6, 2012 (UTC)
And it was taken by me anyways, I just changed my account name. :P Oshawott3What? That's crazy! 00:52, July 7, 2012 (UTC)
Draka map

Red is Dominion of Drak- Tibet, Blue is vassal states of North Pakistan and Nepal

The Dominion of Drak- sorry, Tibet, is most of modern day Tibet (see map)

Guns (talk) 14:03, July 6, 2012 (UTC)

Who hasn't described their nation and vassals yet?

Yank 21:31, July 6, 2012 (UTC)

I forgot my vassals, parthia covers eastern iran and New Babylon covers iraq Axyljonson 20:43 July 9

Cascadia: Cascadia covers the area of Oregon, west of Portland to the Pacific, and bits of SW coastal Washington. It's two vassals are the Commonwealth of Victoria, composing of southern Vancouver Island, and bits of main British Columbia, and Mendocino, composing of the area around and north of the OTL town of Mendocino, a coastal Northern California town. I don't know exactly where it is, so I'd Google it. Bfoxius (talk) 00:19, August 20, 2012 (UTC)Bfoxius

Technology[]

Should we remind people that the most advanced technology atm can be WW1 technology. Of course this won't affect your war stuff if you have spearsmen and stuff fighting ww1 riflemen, just need to make sure people know this is technology from around the time 1890 OTL :D advancements of course will be made! :D and moderated. Kunarian (talk) 13:15, July 6, 2012 (UTC)

But won't the spearmen all die... Guns (talk) 14:04, July 6, 2012 (UTC)

No, because if the spearsmen are better lead or simply properly trained compared to the ww1 riflemen they'll win, they'll be a better way to put it if it happens in game, but yes, most of the time the spearsmen would die in greater numbers, so the basic assumption there is that there are a lot of spearsmen. Kunarian (talk) 14:21, July 6, 2012 (UTC)

We also have no aircraft, and very basic radios. Morse code is allowed but you need to build the infrastructure for it. There are also very basic cars and no tanks yet. :P Imperium Guy 14:13, July 6, 2012 (UTC)

But I thought tech was evolved to post modern standards...

Even in 83DD the tech is only 30 years behind modern day standards thirty years later (in the developed world)... so why are we thinking of medieval warriors? Guns (talk) 15:02, July 6, 2012 (UTC)

Oh no don't get confused, you can start at ww1 technology and work your way up from there, it's just that some people like to have different things, like in the last game the world military superpower was a nation that had spearsmen on horses and swordsmen for infantry, they just invested a lot into their military and I'm just reassuring people they can be outlandish and it won't affect their nations play :D Kunarian (talk) 15:16, July 6, 2012 (UTC)

But do be aware that you cannot arm all your troops with rifles. You will need to have spearmen and stuff when you start off as you will need to produce rifles later. :P Imperium Guy 20:31, July 8, 2012 (UTC)

Well it's ww1 technology, starting from there, imagine something close to fallout but lower tech. You can arm all your troops with rifles just be realistic. Kunarian (talk) 20:38, July 8, 2012 (UTC)

But that removes the fun! We should have at least some troops without rifles. :/ Imperium Guy 20:41, July 8, 2012 (UTC)

It's more player choice, besides, mine are going to have swords :D and shields! :D but also rifles, just in case our swords aren't quite long enough :L Kunarian (talk) 20:42, July 8, 2012 (UTC)

Not bad. I just have to now think how will I manage to rebuild a destroyed city which just so happens to be my capital! :/ Imperium Guy 20:54, July 8, 2012 (UTC)

I'd suggest slowly doing it, so that most of it to begin with will be a slum, semi-destroyed area that most people will live and work in, then rebuild it from the centre out. Technically expensive, however if you write it correctly it can do nothing but benefit you! Kunarian (talk) 22:17, July 8, 2012 (UTC)

New Delhi is built in a paticular way common to all Indian cities and no other cities.

If it was hit by 1-3 nukes, a small part of the original city would survive!

Tibet wasn't nuked, right? Guns (talk) 08:54, July 9, 2012 (UTC)

Bets on Lhasa was nuked. Its the only major city in Tibet. :P Imperium Guy 11:25, July 9, 2012 (UTC)

But who would want to nuke Lhasa? The Royal Guns (talk) 15:24, July 9, 2012 (UTC)

Generally lots of different highly destructive weapons hit everywhere, you can make up what you want however just be reasonable, if you want Lhasa to get hit then do so, if not then please come up with a good explanation why, and need I mention China might want to tibet is not safe, nowhere is really. Kunarian (talk) 16:08, July 9, 2012 (UTC)

Starting the Game[]

Are we going to let this game stall before it's even begun?

Yank 19:31, July 7, 2012 (UTC)

No, I've just come back from a night away and I'm going to finish off things now and send messages out to people hopefully by the end of the night, things will be in proper order to start tuesday or monday Kunarian (talk) 15:26, July 8, 2012 (UTC)
Today is tuesday. The Royal Guns (talk) 11:18, July 10, 2012 (UTC)
It is, however you must give me a small amount of time to do my things in life outside of the wikia, if you could please. Kunarian (talk) 11:42, July 10, 2012 (UTC)
Sorry... The Royal Guns (talk) 13:17, July 10, 2012 (UTC)

Absence[]

I'm leaving for a mission trip on the 15 (no computer access), getting back on the 21, and may have little to no computer access from the 22 to the 28, so I may not be able to play. I can still see what's going on from my phone, but I can't post anything. So here's what I'm thinkning- from my phone, I can reply to blog posts. So, I could add a post and then have one of the mods read it and put it on the page as Albemarle. Thoughts? CourageousLife (talk) 20:04, July 7, 2012 (UTC)

I'll be happy to oblige you on that, I'd gladly translate your posts to this page Kunarian (talk) 18:37, July 8, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! Here's the blog - {http://althistory.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:CourageousLife/Radioactive_Tide_Revised_-_Albemarle}. If you want to take a test run, just comment and then I can comment on my phone. One thing - I cannot see replies on my phone, only the comments, so all conversation has to be held on a different comment each time. Again, thanks soo much, and I'm looking forward to playing! CourageousLife (talk) 18:45, July 8, 2012 (UTC)

Roger understood and no problem I'm glad you are looking forwards to play. Kunarian (talk) 18:58, July 8, 2012 (UTC)

Radiation[]

Will there still be radiation present in cities that were hit with nukes? CourageousLife (talk) 17:47, July 9, 2012 (UTC)

Yes, however radiation could also be cleaned up by safety measures or failsafes that were activated after the war, in case you don't want all the ruined cities to be dead and filled with zombies :L Kunarian (talk) 22:13, July 9, 2012 (UTC)

No, there won't be. After 335 years? No way! Even in, say, 83DD, they are talking about reviving NY by 2100. This is 335 years later. Maybe there will be a few tiny spots of radiation, but... even today, as long as you have a Geiger counter, you can live in Chernobyl. There are only these isolated, tiny pockets of radiation. In fact, those cities could have been repopulated in 100 years after RTDD. Trust me, ok? I took Nuclear physics last year. The Royal Guns (talk) 05:57, July 10, 2012 (UTC)

I will trust you completely, nuclear physics is not my area of expertise. Kunarian (talk) 10:05, July 10, 2012 (UTC)
Thank you.
What could be a problem, though... after those nukings, there are going to be mutant species. most humans won't go back into the city, but animals will. And most will die but a few might survive...
Shouldn't be a problem with guns, though. Thing is, said animals will have forgotten about humans.
Won't be a problem for me, The Dominion of Drak- gahh- Tibet reoccupied Lhasa 200 years ago =D The Royal Guns (talk) 11:15, July 10, 2012 (UTC)
And this is why you always keep a nuclear physicist handy. Thanks Guns. Another thing I was wondering- since the POD is so far in the past, places in America wouldn't have the same names, would they? Especially Raleigh, a guy who never existed. CourageousLife (talk) 02:36, July 11, 2012 (UTC)
I probaly shouldn't but in, but since its been three-hundred and some odd years since "Doomsday" as it is referred to on the talk page, probaly most if not all remnants of the old world (maps, languages, books) would either be destroyed in the intial war, or what would come after. But that's just me. Enclavehunter (talk) 02:40, July 11, 2012 (UTC)
Well, Raleigh could have existed in the future.
But that is not inevitably true. Look at 83DD. Even assuming that RTDD would have been worse, you'd have to blanket nuke a country- and if you did that, I'm thinking no recovery for the ENTIRE country for at least 200-300 years. Everyone in the country side will remember the names of places (assuming they can read).
And I'm not a nuclear physicist, I'm a high schooler who took Nuclear physics. The Nuclear physicist can tell you the exact diameter of a 150 kt bomb and how long the radiation can stay, I can just tell you the basics. Please, please, please don't assume I know everything about the subject. The Royal Guns (talk) 04:53, July 11, 2012 (UTC)
Close enough. Besides, it's the closest we're gonna get. Oh well, Raleigh will just exist in the future. Thanks guys! CourageousLife (talk) 19:11, July 11, 2012 (UTC)

Flag Requests[]

If anyone needs flags made, I will gladly make them and put them next to your nation in the signups. Just post requests below. CourageousLife (talk) 19:44, July 11, 2012 (UTC)

I'm fine with tthe other two but I don't want to use the Nepali flag... The Royal Guns (talk) 05:19, July 12, 2012 (UTC)

What kind of flag do you want? Description below, and please be detailed. CourageousLife (talk) 03:02, July 13, 2012 (UTC)

Righto.

Make it a normal, rectangular flag. Dragon in the center, surrounded by a wheel against a blue background.

The Royal Guns (talk) 03:56, July 13, 2012 (UTC)

Does this look good, or are there changes you want? CourageousLife (talk) 04:08, July 13, 2012 (UTC)

Nepali Flag

No, thats... good. That was fast. The Royal Guns (talk) 03:56, July 13, 2012 (UTC)

Where to start[]

I don't know how to start writing my first post or what should be included. Can someone help me? CourageousLife (talk) 03:12, July 13, 2012 (UTC)

Well start it with something different, like for instance, a reform in government or the rise of a new leader, or maybe the end of something like maybe the end of a golden age or maybe the end of a dictatorship, politics I find is the best way to introduce your nation however you could also do it with a technological discovery, and economic breakthrough or something else, I don't know how helpful I've been but I'll help more if you need it, I'm going to sleep now though :L Kunarian (talk) 03:24, July 13, 2012 (UTC)

Declaration of illness[]

I am currently quite ill and therefore my administration of this game will be quite slow, terribly sorry for this, it's just that I expected it to get better not worse Kunarian (talk) 18:11, July 14, 2012 (UTC)

I'll help administer the game, since I'm a mod. Also, hope you get well soon. Enclavehunter (talk) 18:29, July 14, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, I should be soon, I've gone onto some medication, it'll only be a day or two hopefully Kunarian (talk) 00:05, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

So... I guess this is dead.[]

The Royal Guns (talk) 14:02, July 21, 2012 (UTC)

It would seem so, I was worried it might die while I was gone, you need to put a lot of effort in to get any map game off of the ground Kunarian (talk) 09:31, July 27, 2012 (UTC)

yep.

Pity.

The Royal Guns (talk) 09:34, July 27, 2012 (UTC)

Give it a nit of time, let the just clear (as in let other map games die off). The concept of this map game is difficult to understand, so I think we should try to get this game running again soon after others die. :P Imp (Say Hi?!) 14:11, July 27, 2012 (UTC)

Every time they die, another is born. Half the time, it's a 'revised' or 'reloaded' version of the previous games. It's like a phoenix. The Royal Guns (talk) 08:01, July 28, 2012 (UTC)

Idea[]

I was thinking of doing my own version "The Roman Empire lived on and dropped the atom bomb in 1650! (Map game)" (Roman accoluere deiecit in atomicus bomb MDCL!), but it won't be for a while yet.-The River Nile-2 (talk) 22:06, April 16, 2015 (UTC)

Rome gets it's act together, becomes psychobiology more like an Italian speaking version of Byzantium thus beating back the Germanic/Hunnic hordes into Central Germany. Because of this there is no European dark age (apart from some bad patches due to natural disasters such as volcanoes, crop failures and the scourge of the black death). The Bulgars, Magyars and Yugoslavs got pushed in to the west of Ukraine, Bylorussia and Slovakia, but are still Chrissifyed as in real life- The rest are booted in to eastern and central Ukrane and/or central Germany, and thus stay pagan, as do the Poles, Sorbs, Czechs and Slovaks, who are stuck in Poland.
Rome fought the Arabs with only a few Roman gains from 1050 to 1400, but it mostly fell part in a 1350s-1360s civil war. It's remnant state explore the world from 1450s onwards. Europe manages to perminatly deter the Ottoman's advance on Constantinople and Izmir, but lose at Ankara and Diyarbakır in the 13th Century. Technological spill over accelerates development in the Middle East and North Africa by 100 years after 1400.
Heavily-armed Spanish and Portuguese slave traders lead the charge in to the dark continent after 1550 and devastated Black Africa.
Finally a technically advanced by 300 years Europe go to war over colonising North America and the situation in the Black Sea region during 1625. Rome (covers Italy, Provence, Malta and Slovenia at this time) drops the bomb in 1650, sparking a atomic war and European/Middle Eastern/South American apocalipic situation.
The game starts 150 years later in 1800 with 1900 tech.The River Nile-2 (talk) 22:59, April 16, 2015 (UTC)
