Why "archmonarch"? And why Gothenburg(!) of all places? And why 1809? I'm not complaining, just asking for a feasible explanation... :o) --dllu 18:12, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- "Archmonarch" because the sovereign is monarch of each component state. "Gothenburg" because its in a good neutral location (it isn't the capitol of any constituent, and is close to Norway, and Denmark). 1809, because of him - Gustav IV Adolf of Sweden. --Sikulu 07:31, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, there just didn't seem to be any indication of this in the overall timeline. But: If Denmark is the no. 1 state in this union (and I presume they are, with the Danish king becoming archmonarch), it would seem logical to keep the capital in Copenhagen. Just like the capital of the UK is London and not Liverpool or something. --dllu 13:19, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- It was mostly to appease the Swedes, since they elected the Dano-Norwegian king to be their monarch. --Sikulu 14:41, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Ah - well that makes sense. At first I thought Denmark and Sweden had both supported the other side compared to *here* in the Napoleonic Wars - until I realized that obviously there would be no Napoleonic Wars *there*. :o) --dllu 18:21, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Btw, I added Guadeloupe to the colonies. *Here* it was Swedish a short while in 1813-14, which I know is after 1809 - but I kind of like ATLs where some events after the POD happen like they did *here*, but for other reasons. Besides, it's hardly going to corrupt the whole timeline. ;o) The same goes for Åland being a self governing member of the union. After all, Iceland, Greenland, and the Faroe Is. are *there* too. --dllu 18:53, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, dear. Guadeloupe was never transfered to Sweden *there*. It's still firmly French. They still have St. Barthelmy though. --Sikulu 07:18, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- Again: why? This is an open project, right? Is there any reason why the French couldn't have sold the island to the Scandinavians? --dllu 18:28, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- Why would they. It's not like they had a huge war to finance, or had to keep Sweden sweet or anything. They just decided to keep it. --Sikulu 07:36, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
