This is a really cool idea. Nice job. Caeruleus 01:58, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

I have a few problems with this. First, the plausiblity of such a group forming in the first place. Second, their base being on tiny Giresun Island. Where would the money come from, and what would the mercenaries do with the money? How many soldiers and how would they get to trouble spots around the world? It all seems too much like a role playing game (something like it once sprung up in the Caribbean which was indeed based on a game). This time line needs to have the stamp of authenticity on it. Introducing fictional organizations like this one spoil that authenticity.
I suppose, though, if you can justify this from some existing 1983 movement in that direction, with a few real personages attached to it, it might just work. SouthWriter 04:42, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

I based this on the idea that there is always, no matter how horrible the disaster, a mysterious group like this because there is always someone who sees the great chance for a profit. Not to mention there is always someone whose fortune will survive Doomsday, no matter how much of the world it effects. This is not impossible. It has been demonstrated many times in history and this is why I wrote the article. However, I understand there will always need to be more realistic issues. Judging from the size of Giresun Island, a small town could easily be built on it for residence. If you removed some of the rock formation and ancient ruins, there would be enough space to build a military command center like the one described.

There is no shortage of ex-soldiers from countries that were destroyed in Doomsday who would need a job. Someone could unite them to set up a few units for hire. I will try and fit your idea into the article...As for Arstarpool, I placed North Germany into the article only because it was the only original Doomsday article which confirmed the nation using mercenaries. However, I will not object to you if you choose to take that information down. I didn't just randomize organizations or countries, Kalmykia and Dagestan were specifically suggested to me by Lordganon.--Emperor of Trebizond 12:00, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

A good thing about basing a private organization like this on Giresun Island is that they don't have to support or govern a local population. The Turkish government banned residence on the island pre-Doomsday.--Emperor of Trebizond 02:52, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

Vastly overstating the situation in Kalmykia. There's no unrest or banditry like that in it. The contract would just be for protecting pilgrimages crossing the gap between there and Tibet. Lordganon (talk) 09:02, October 17, 2013 (UTC)

Edited. When the first draft of this article was discussed, I was informed that the primary threat to pious Tibetans, civilians, and the like were "bandits". Even if there's no systematic campaign of terror a few petty gangs here and there may still need to be cleared off the pilgrimage routes - wouldn't you agree? --Emperor of Trebizond (talk) 18:51, October 17, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, but that's bandits, etc. between Kalmykia and Tibet, not in either state. What you'd written had it inside Kalmykia. Lordganon (talk) 11:36, October 18, 2013 (UTC)
