Alternative History

General talk[]

Liking it so far, Smoggy. There are several points I'd like to establish when I get round to editing this:

  • The TBA was getting extremely strong throughout the 2000s, enough to legitimately challenge the entire OBN
  • Essex's attack was completely unexpected and shattered the state, though parts along its southeastern edge (ie those next to Essex and Woodbridge) remained reasonably coordinated
  • It's devolved into clans along the west, though due to its nature in many more places its gone entirely
  • Its primary operating unit is mobile gangs of raiders who patrol a region of turf and don't get along very well with other gangs, but are kept in line through a gigantic, nearly feudal system that has evolved out of a basic military structure

I'm also trying to thing of a flag or banner. Perhaps the Union Flag with the BUF logo imposed upon it? Perhaps a Fascist Fist? Fegaxeyl 19:32, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

feel free to add anything you think is relevent--Smoggy80 19:18, July 29, 2010 (UTC)

How about the Union Flag with a hand holding bolts of lightning in the centre for the main flag. Something like this: http://www.myelectricalservices.com/pictures/lightningHand.png
I would also imagine the seperate clans/gangs have their own flags with the same symbol in the centre Verence71 11:32, July 26, 2010 (UTC)
Ooh, nice. I'll just fiddle around with the colours and stick them onto the Union Flag to make an Instant Evil Emblem. Fegaxeyl 18:11, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

I was just thinking, and I had an idea that could explain why the TBA didn't make a particular nuisance of itself to Woodbridge and Essex prior to 2008. Perhaps it could have had its own threats? I'm thinking a rogue army on the other side of its territory, either as bad as or worse than the TBA, and certainly more dangerous. Perhaps to explain its strength, it would have had one of the former TBA heads in charge, who took his men with him after a disagreement or a campaign (if you've seen Apocalypse Now, this is what the bad guy's character did, roughly). This would have put the state in a huge civil war up until 2008, when the other army moves in and usurped control of the leaderless TBA, turning it to his side and then going on to combat the OBN. (This general is the one currently smashing up the west of Essex.) This is a tentative idea, so what do we think? Plausible, implausible? A good narrative? Too different from our prior ideas? Fegaxeyl 16:34, July 25, 2010 (UTC)

I think the idea of a TBA civil war prior to 2008 is a good idea and very likely to have happened. Resistance movements or people's armies often split over matters of policy. I'm currently working on having Woodbridge's special forces provoke a civil war amongst the TBA forces in Norfolk by way of a "false flag" operation Verence71 11:26, July 26, 2010 (UTC)
Of course if the TBA forces in Norfolk consist of several different clans it would make the whole "false flag" operation that much each. The WSF could attack forces from clan A and leave behind evidence incriminating clan B Verence71 20:15, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Would the TBA be able to have any sort of stronghold in Norwich as it was targeted in the third wave of bombing on Doomsday. Verence71 16:08, July 27, 2010 (UTC)

Ah. Well, Norwich isn't a vital part of the narrative, so I suppose I can write that bit out. Fegaxeyl 16:56, July 27, 2010 (UTC)

Matlock (DD) page[]

I found this intresting snipet on the Matlock (DD) page, which I think is worth adding to the TBA article-

"A point of note for 1998 was the state's brief entertaining of a division of the True British Army. Seven hundred men on a long range exploratory mission briefly adopted the state as their base of operations. During their ninth-month stay they soon came to be quite strongly appreciated by the locals; separation from the TBA's territory enforced a sense of humility and respect upon the exploratory troops, and despite a few cases of assault and theft the division was generally well-behaved. Indeed it proved critical when a large clan of raiders attempted to conquer Matlock in a three-week siege, the TBA men helping the Matlock Matchlocks fight off repeated attacks. The division eventually departed back to its home territories when it was decided that the TBA did not need long-distance outposts. In late August an estimated four hundred TBA troops returned to Matlock following their defeat by the Organisation of British Nations."

EDL[]

The EDL can't help form the TBA, since the EDL did not exsist prior to 2009[1]. There are groups otheres that did [2].213.81.123.166 18:58, September 6, 2011 (UTC)

Revisions[]

I've made some edits to this page, particularly in the structure segment, to make the TBA more workable and realistic. It's also got me thinking about where we can take this article. Do we have any idea about how big it really was? We know it extended from Rutland to Luton, but was that all? How was it run? I envision it as some kind of feudal society with overtones of the Holy Roman Empire. Was it truly evil? Fegaxeyl 16:13, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

Lore issues[]

It is now long cannon that Luton became a major TBA city that Essex later conquered. Lore says it was hit by a 100 kt nuke that would have destroyed it apart from the outer fringes of adjacent Dunstable, thus a plot hole and story line paradox. I propose that he nuke slightly misses (it happened for Glasgow and Liverpool). If the Luton nuke exploded 5 miles to the north over Barton-Le-Clay, most of Luton (exsept a small bit by the airport and it's 10kt nuke) would only get moderate or light blast damage, plus any radiation depending on the winds, thus the town and the few survivors could be recovered by the TBA. I would like to adopt the True British Army (1983: Doomsday) page to create an economic policy (I'm sure they will have at least some farms, several basic arms factories and a few penal slave labour camps) and to add to both the political and organizational aspects of the TBA.

The official T.L. guide says "So, if an editor has been missing for three months, another editor can adopt his articles. We ask that the adopting editor make an attempt to contact the missing editor by leaving a message on his or her talk page. If the missing editor does not respond in one week, the adopting editor can safely become the new caretaker of the article in question." [3].

I have asked EoGuy99, Smoggy80 and Fegaxeyl and if they either agree or don't say anything in 2 weeks I will assume temporary authority over it and add some more detail to it.

  • Some of my ideas.
The unofficial TBA mottos and popular war cries were: "Bugger off darkie foreigners!", "No surrender to the IRA!", Put Zion under the flat iron!", "Better dead than red!", "No surrender to the GDR!", and "Death to fagots and Nancy boys!". They well summarized their toxicity racist, homophobic, anti-Communist and anti-Semitic mentally.
The opencast quarrying for ironstone at Ryebury Hill and Sidegate Lane, on land he owned on the south west edge of Finedon, Northants, ended in 1980; but restarted in 1987. It was one of the TBA's most prized assets.
Buckingham is surrounded by sand pits. They were run by the Penal Labour Commission.
The penal 'Terminator Chalk Mine' opened near Princes Risborough in 1992. It was run by the Penal Labour Commission.
Several of the TBA's founders had post atomic-holocaust PTSE and were no longer thinking logical, thus they were so brutal and militaristic after the war.
The lowest of all TBA military units is a locally recruited 5 man "patrole unit".
The still anonymous ultimate heads of the Penal Labour Commission and National Security Commission were ranked as "Master Sergeants".
The TBA's homicidal destruction of the March 25th, 2007, Loughborough food riot; mid 2007 to late 2008 Brackley-Daventry-Long Buckby food riots, The early 2009 Towcester farmers' tax strike and the May 25, 2009, blacksmiths' tax protests in Daventry by both a Kettering based occupation Battalion and the numerous local TBA platoons in the protesting localizes.
Thugish policing policy.
Rudimentary local government structures.
Skirmishes with tribes in Oxfordshire and southern Buckinhamshire.
An official oath.
A local news sheet.

Flag[]

Hello. Does the TBA have a flag? Perhaps the Union Jack with the logo of the English far-right group English Resistance (like a round wheel with a dragon in the middle).

I generally feel like the page is missing a lot, a flag is necessary and an Infobox with the basic facts would really help. I could make one similar to the Sons of De Montfort's infobox?

Regards.

Review and adoption[]

I'm making updates to bring this in line with the United Kingdom. I may as well ask to formally adopt it as well, since I want to bring its history up to the present. 2010 was a long time ago. I have imagined the TBA surviving as basically a resistance movement in the occupied areas, flaring up from time to time during the decade following its military defeat. It's mostly gone now but not entirely. Most of the energy of its adherents has gone into the new Commonwealth. False Dmitri (talk) 12:43, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
