No need to worry, happy to answer.
It's Chữ Nôm (the Chinese characters previously used for Vietnamese). It's pretty much been headcanon that they would be retained and encouraged following Vietnam's independence (backed by Japan, anti-French, etc.). Your feedback is always welcomed, so please don't feel discouraged.
