Thailand, officially known as the Kingdom of Thailand (Thai: ราชอาณาจักรไทย), is a sovereign state in Southeast Asia. It is a absolute monarchy with a which contains a direct democracy, and the Supreme Council of State functions as its parliament. The capital city is Bangkok, and it shares borders with Laos, Cambodia, Shanland, Monland, Malaya and Sarawak, and Myanmar.
The migration of Thai people from Southwestern China led to the establishment of various Thai kingdoms such as Lanna, Ngoenyang, and Sukhothai, with Sukhothai becoming the first unified Thai state in 1238. In 1351, Uthong established the Ayutthaya Kingdom. During Borommatrailokkanat's reign, Ayutthaya underwent significant societal reforms. Following his death, Ayutthaya entered an era of exploration and Thai colonization.
