The Athenian Chronicle (Greek: Το αθηναϊκό χρονικό, pronunciation: To athinaïkó chronikó) is a Byzantine newspaper outlet based in Athens. Established in 1839 by Markos Balloulis, it is known worldwide for its detailed and sometimes sensationalistic reporting. Beginning in 2013, they began to broadcast their news on television.

The Balloulis Manor, the initial heaquarters of the Athenian Chronicle.

The Athenian Chronicle was founded on April 9, 1839, by Markos Balloulis. The son of the famed Byzantine diplomat Kimon Balloulis, he was lent a loan of ₯100,000 to establish his new's agency. Four months following its establishment, it began printing publications on the weekends, the first in Athens to do so.

Markos Balloulis, the founder of The Athenian Chronicle.

On April 7, 1847, Balloulisis perished from pneumonia, and his son, Charalambos Balloulisis, inherited his estates in Thessaloniki, Athens, Cappadocia, and Smyrna. He also assumed the position as President and Owner of The Athenian Chronicle. Charalambos renounced his ownership of the his properties in Thessalinoki, Cappadocia, and Smyrna. During the 1850s, the company struggled due to poor investments, and being superceded by rival newspapers. By 1864, their operations were half the size it was in 1847. By the 1870s, the Chronicle had largely become an extremely minor local publication that was running at a net loss.

The Athenian Chronicle began its resurgence in 1887 when it Charalambos sold the company to Michael Sallas, the great-grandson of Markos Balloulis. It was purchased in 1889 by the Municipal Government of Athens and was issued to every residence on January 14. After a scandal in 1893 over city-sponsored propaganda in the newspaper publication, the company was sold to Georgios Vasciadis, a wealthy industrialist heralding from Constantinople. The Atheian Chronicle swiftly returned to its position as one of the largest newspaper publications in the Byzantine Empire. By 1911, they had went public, and by 1923, it was Byzantiums preeminent newspaper publication.

In 1912, the Scandinavian War erupted in Europe. In Byzantium, TAC journalists were well known for documenting the tragedy, death, and misery in the frontlines. The horrors of war were documented extensively and fueled anti-war sentiment back home. They repeated this in the Great War, earning them the nickname "The Documenters of War."

In 1975, journalists and editors went on strike, campaigning for better pay. Sporadic strikes would continue well into the 1980s. Eventually, in 1985, then President, Georgios Stavrelis, promised a minimum wage of ₯15.00.

In 1993, the publication established an HQ in Langthrope in Mexica, then apart of the British Empire. In 2008, the established headquarters in Alexandria and in Kyoto, the capital of Japan.

In 2013, the new president of the Athenian Chronicle, Zacharias Ioanniades, announced the Athenian Film, a national TV news station. In 2015, plans for the Athenian Film to go global began, and 2016, it became available in 130 countries across the world.

(Eastern North Columbia - The Lawrentian Union)

9rkWRWBQGeN1UUrapn4pbkya3Ut7OvdAeToabYIyA-c

A proposed flag for the Lawrencian Union was selected by attendees of the summit as the flag for such a union.

The twenty former British Colonies in North Columbia, the states of Calvania, Western Elizabethia, Eastern Elizabethia, Avalon, Calvania, Carolina, Flosia, New England, Vineland (UNDER CONSTRUCTION) held a summit today, taking closer steps to unify into what has recently been dubbed "The Lawrencian Union." The proposed union, which has its namesake from the famous English explorer, Lawrence Leventhorpe, stems as far back as the 19th century and actually came very close to occurring, with Parliament being largely in support for the decision on paper. However, there was one thing that stood in between the eastern colonies and unification, and that historical reason that these states are separate are still what prevents the uniting of these states today - the rivalry between Dixie and Aurelia, south vs north. The rift formed between these two factions, forged by centuries of cultural, political, and moral distinctions have historically actively interfered in the process and still do today as many in both countries still would prefer not to be in the same country as one another. While the bickering between Dixie and Aurelia was expected, a major, but rather unsurprising event made headlines - this union would be that of democracy - a constitutional republic, and all the monarchies within the area the union would encompass would be officially dissolved. The decision was a defining moment, although was rather foreseeable with the collapsing approval of monarchies in former colonial states, as they are increasingly being viewed as a despotic institution that reflect very little about their countries other than the fact that they are mere relics of the colonial era. Observers continue to view intensely as Eastern North Columbia seems to finally commence the process of consolidation.

Opening of XXII Winter Olympic Games (2338-13)

The Cauldron ablaze.

After a ten day long relay, the Olympic Flame was lit today at Heartport to commemorate the commencement of the 2022 Heartport Winter Olympiad. The flame was first lit at the ruins of Olympia, the ancient site where the Olympic Games began millennia ago. Beginning on September 16, 2021, the torch was symbolically taken to Athens, then traveled throughout every country in the world and even into space along the Global Spacecraft. The flame finally arrived today, though it was intended to arrive on the 21st. It was prolonged however by protestors in Mexica demonstrating against the rival nation Cascadia, and later by Indigenous Cascadian demonstrators protesting over the Act of Land Reclamation being debated in the Cascadian Parliament that would strip much of the native population of their land rights. It was lit by James Jefferson, a professional skier who played in prior Winter Olympics and coached much of the current Cascadian roster. He lit the brazier in the Heartport Olympic Stadium, which lit up the recently built "cauldron tower." The tower illuminated the surrounding areas, indicating that the Winter Olympiad had begun.

Shisr (Ubar)9

The old fort near the settlement of Shisr, said to be a remnant of Ubar.

Deep in the the Arabian Desert, archaeologists have uncovered a pre-Islamic fort said to be the remains of the fabled Atlantis of the Sands, the legendary entrepôt of the rich frankincense trade said to have been obliterated via the wrath of God thousands of years ago. Excavations commenced earlier this week, investigating what was previously thought to be an ordinary millennia old fort in the Rub al Khali desert. There, a vast limestone temple sunk into a sinkhole was uncovered, flanked by the main gate. The discovery was headed by the British and German Archaeologists Peter Thomas and Christoph Ehrhardt. With the hypothesized discovery of the Atlantis of The Sands (also dubbed Iram of the Pillars, or simply Iram, Ubar, or the Lost City of Brass), they hope that this excavation could lead to further discoveries of settlements and buildings that could uncover this supposed lost city swept under the pages of history for millenia.

  • January 19, 2022: German Southwestern Pacific (2022 Hunga Tonga eruption and tsunami)

A scandal had unfolded in the German Southwestern Pacific. Colonial officials today were exposed to be hoarding supplies for themselves, including water, food, and generated electricity. Outrage has ensued as these basic facets of life continue to be scarce in Tonga due to the fallout from the worlds largest volcano eruption since 1991, and the situation has largely been seen as an example of how the colonial government has gravely mishandled the crisis. Observers state that this incident will likely spurr further anti-colonial and pro-separatist sentiment within the southern Pacific possessions. The National German Government had condemned the colonial government, demanding that the hoarded supplies be distributed to the local inhabitants. In a press-conference, Governor Hannes Weider, denied the allegations, however, his past lies have left te public certain that the validity of these statements are just like his subjects water tanks: non-existent.

Korol Nikolay IV was pronounced dead today. The former Russian monarch, now disgraced in his former realm, apparently fell ill and died; however, these are widely regarded as false claims, and, he was likely instead murdered as he posed too much of a threat to Duk Natalia Svyatoslavovna's infantile reign as autocrat of the Russians. The entire Russian Branch of the House of Yanovich and former President Vladimir Rasputin have all disappeared since the violent revolution that toppled the monarchy half a year ago, with the latter being rumored to be held captive by the Ultranationalist Government. Experts warn that this could be the beginning of a series of purges, mass arrests, and executions under the bloodthirsty Svyatoslavovna's leadership.

The Entertainment Zone III, commonly referred to as the EZ3, has officially become the world's best-selling video game console after a mere one year following its release in October of 2020. Costa Computer Entertainment, the consoles publisher, proudly boasted today that it had sold up to 120 million consoles as of January 15, 2022. The success of the EZ3 has largely been attributed to its diverse library of games, ranging from easy, simple platforming games like Costa's very own Terra-Land to Action-Adventure games like Enigmatic Studios' Uncovered, and Imperial Developments' Castleborne, which are all some of the consoles best-selling franchises.

The Imperial Palace of Constantinople has become home of the Byzantine Imperial Family once more following its infamous bombing two years ago. The House of Molivesti-Pontus determined that after over a year and a half of reconstruction, the place was now suitable for their resettlement, and have began moving in to their former home. Emperor Constantine XXI hopes that the family's decision will send a stern message towards South-Slavic Rebels, adding that "they may try to take our buildings, our people, our friends, our families, our works of art, and our dignity, but they will never destroy the Roman spirit."

  • January 10, 2022: Persian Gulf (Boarding Crisis)

Following the incident on the 8th, when Persian troops seized a Byzantine oil tanker in the Persian Gulf in retribution for a similar attack instigated by the Byzantines in 2020, Byzantine troops have blockaded several key Persian ports like Bushehr, Hormuz, and Abbas. The goal was to hamper Persian exports to coerce the Persians into releasing the 11 folks commanding the oil vessel. Persia, accounting for 30% of the world's largest source of petroleum, has already taken a major economic hit, however, as such, the global economy has at well, with stock exchanges falling by dozens of points.

The first automobile accident occured on the newly-constructed Bridge of Two Horns. A shipping container collided with a motorcycle 12 miles northeast of Ras Siyyan. The collision caused the tank in the truck to explode, causing a fire. Fortunately, the driver evaded the truck in time and survived, a fate that the biker that he hit may not be so fortunate to endure. The biker was sent flying, falling into the of the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait. Searching operations commenced hours after reports commenced as the nearest coastal rescue teams were dozens of miles away, spurring criticism for the inadequate precautions and systems set in the case of such an event on a nearly 23 mile rout spanning across a major strait. The biker has remained unidentified and has still not been found.

  • January 8, 2022: Persian Gulf (Byzantine-Persian Relations)

A Byzantine petroleum tanker was boarded by a party of Persian coast guards today. The incident follows a prior boarding of a Persian tanker two years ago in 2020. Experts warn of future hostilities.

The Bridge of Two Horns, after nearly a decade of delays, setbacks, and controversy has finally opened to public use following the finishing of construction last month. Emperor Constantine XXI, comming fresh from the hospital following an attempted assasination last month, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier today, and made remarks about the significance of the bridges. "We are building the future of Arabia and Africa," he somewhat controversially raved. Following his speech and remarks by family members and associates, including business executives of the various companies that aided in construction efforts in the latter half of the project's development, Constantine XXI cut the ribbon and declared the bridge open. The bridges and the segment of Imperial Motorway 13 that connects them on Perim Island span a combined total of 24 miles, or 37 kilometers, and under optimal conditions takes around 25 minutes to fully traverse (as verified by our very own news agency that recieved exclusive access to the bridge shortly before its opening). The bridge is expected to bring in hundreds of millions in tourist and financial gains, and the Byzantine Government is planning on building a city on the opposite end of the Bab-el-Mandeb strait from Angelonople said to rival said city.

Blocked off street in Adrianople.

At 4pm Eastern European Time, a trio of Bulgarian and Serbian terrorists shot at Emperor Constantine XXI while he was ridining in his limousine in Adrianople. Constantine was riding to Adrianople International Airport after returning from a political convention. Just before getting on the highway, his car was shot at by two Bulgars and one Serb from an adjacent building. They fired 10 rounds each. Panicking and shocked, the driver sped off, traveling 120 miles per hour, however he lost control and crashed the car into a car, which sent int swirving into a brick wall. The driver, a RBC, and all six passengers in the other car, were killed. Constantine and all other passengers in the limousine survived but were badly injurded and are currently in the hospital. The Roman Government had been on high alert since, with increased security in Constantinople and critical historical sites.

Emperor Constantine XXI has made yet another appeal to the international community to recognize the state-based in Constantinople as the Roman Empire. This is the continuation of countless attempts to get the Eastern Roman Empire to be recognized as the Roman Empire. Observers believe that this appeal, like the numerous other pleas to the international community regarding this issue, will largely fall on deaf ears.

Three days ago on the monthly anniversary of the 2021 Elections, the Russian Korol, Nikolay VI, vowed in front of the entire world, that he would not accept the projected results of the 2021 Russian elections, which saw the NSP, sweep the results. This spurred mass outrage, with supporters of the party proclaiming that he was bribed by the NSP's primary opposition, the YRP, while non NSP members cite what they see as voting irregularities that may suggest foul play on the side of the NSP. Riots occurred in the streets and in response, the Korol deployed use of the military to squash the riots. However, it appears that he severely underestimated the support amongst members of the military for the NSP, and their now world famous leader, Natalia Svyatoslavovna. Today, soldiers mutinied and defected to the rioter's side. Reportedly, the Korol asked his Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Artemiy Yanovich, "is it a revolt?" Yanovich replied with "No, it's a revolution." Soon afterwards, the military instigated a coup, deposing the Russian Monarchy. Later, Svyatoslavovna was installed as Chancellor of Russia (head of Government) and Consul of Russia (head of government). The ripple effects from this are sure to be massive, with the international response, especially amongst Russia's rivals being rather mixed. The whereabouts of the Korol and entire Yanovich family are unknown, with rumors circulating that they're dead or being held captive.

  • June 16, 2021: China (Manchurian Crisis)

The forces of the Imperial Chinese Army decisively defeated the forces of Russia at the Battle of Songyuan at what has been labeled by Chinese news media as "the Harbin campaign." 30,000 Chinese engaged with 45,000 troops from Russia; the Chinese under the leadership of Gong Long and the Russians by Alekse Yevgenievich. Despite being outnumbered, the Chinese decimated the Russian forces, killing 35 thousand while only losing 13 thousand. Their victory has shown that China is no longer the paper tiger that it was in the 19th and 20th centuries.

2021 Election Results.

In an unprecedented sight in Russian electoral history, the Ultranationalist National Slavic Party, headed by Natalia Svyatoslavovna, won in a major landslide, gaining 270 seats, gaining a majority in the Russian Duma. The results were a shock to observers and pollsters, who, although predicting major gains for the party, did not expect such sweeping victories for a party that has largely remained obscure for the past decades. Many have attributed their victories to the general rise of Slavic ethnonationalism in Muscovy/Rus. Korol Nikolay VI is expected to sire Svyatoslavona as President in June, though many have sensed that he may not, due to his considerable dislike for the NSP.

Estimates for the death toll of the HAVID-20 Pandemic exceed a million deaths. The pandemic has also infected a further 337 million people worldwide. The countries with the highest death toll in order from hardest hit are The Rus, India, and Great Britain.

Избирательный участок 2018

Polling station in Pskov.

Election day arrives in the lands of the Rus. Countless parties compete, however, only 5 - 7 major parties dominate the major political land scape. The ruling party, the Democratic-Liberal Party (Демократико-либеральная партия, DLP), led by Vladimir Rasputin, appears to largely only face two major enemies: the Communalist Unionist Workers Party (Юнионистская рабочая партия, YRP), led by Malakhov Lavro Ivanovich, and the Ultranationalist National Slavic Party (Национальная славянская партия, NSP), led by Natalia Svyatoslavovna. Until recently, observers had concluded that the DLP would win, seeing solid support in recent elections. However, the Great Panic of 2021 that has rocked the country, in addition to the Russian government's handling of the HAVID-20 Pandemic, has severely devastated Rasputin's administration and party in terms of reputation. In the wake of this, two already growing extremists populist parties have done excellently in the polls: the staunchly far-left, communalist YRP and the far-right, ethnonationalist NSP. Many observers have stated that one of these extremist populist parties will likely win the election. The results will be decided by the Russian people, but one thing is certain: the fate of Russia appears to depend on who wins this sentimental election...

  • May 11, 2021: Rus:

In the morning, then Grand Prince Nicholas VI declared the dissolution of the Grand Princedom of Moscow, and the establishment of the Koroldom of the Rus. The move was to "emphasize the greater unity of the Slavic peoples, and a message to states that oppress our ethnic brethren." The "states oppressing [their] ethnic brethren" have been unspecified, however, it's likely referring to the Byzantines and the insurgencies in the Balkans. Emperor Constantine XXI of Byzantium has responded to the news, claiming that the name change was "an attempt to distract the 'Muscovite' populous from the Great Panic of 2021 that has rocked the country." The country has applied for continuing membership in the Union of Nations as "The Rus."

IGPA agents spotted Caldwell in his 2004 Perkins Ridge near an abandoned railroad station. His car matched the description that the car that the wannabe assassin had entered into when fleeing the scene yesterday. When they came to interrogate him, he pulled a pistol out and shot and killed two IGPA agents before running to the station, where he hid and fired his gun, killing 12 more agents. South-Slavic ultra-nationalists have ultimately responded with their own statements or violence. More troops are scheduled to be deployed in the South-Slavic themes beginning on June 6.

Gas prices reached the lowest in fifty years, fueled by France's disregard for fossil fuels in favor of green and nuclear energy. Despite the country's best efforts, France has been rather slow to adopt non-fossil fuel energy, with them only accounting for nine percent of the country's energy consumption. This, coupled with France's discouragement for the use of fossil fuels have contributed to shrinking gas price's in the country.
