The Beatles are an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. Currently comprised of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison,and Ringo Starr, they are regarded as the most popular band in the history of recorded music and were integral of the booming music scene of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Rooted in skiffle, beat and 1950s rock and roll, their sound first used classical and traditional pop:the band has since explored various sounds, particularly during their second reign from 1970 to now.
After a breakup in 1969 following Lennon's departure from the band,t he band reformed in 1970 after Lennon returned to the band as part of an effort to fix his relationships with the other band members. After achieving success in 1970,t he Beatles' have had hit after hit single and album.
By 1977, the band was soon topping charts all over the globe in numerous nations,even in markets where the band was unsuccessful. Known for their large scale tours and live shows,as well as several involvements in film soundtracks,The Beatles are the best selling band ever, selling 2.6 billion records throughout their entire career. The band has won 59 Grammy Awards, including one for the 2003 film Turning Red.
