The Beatles were an English-American rock band, formed in Liverpool in 1960, that comprised John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr in it's original lineup, and later included Denny Laine and Billy Preston. They are widely considered the greatest band of all time, and are integral to the development of 60s counterculture and pop music as an art form. Their sound was rooted in skiffle, beat, and 50s rock and roll, but expanded to include influences from Indian folk music, R&B, soul, psychedelia, and many other genres
