  • 7 October 2001: the United States of America, Russian Federation and Republic of Turkey invade the Republic of Iraq.
  • 30 October 2001: Arc System Works acquire and fold SNK.

  • 26 April 2002: Capcom release Mega Man Chronicles for the PlayStation 2. it is an Open World 3D Third-Person Shooter like the Mega Man Legends games. but has a level structure like the Classic Mega Man and Mega Man X games. story wise, it takes place around a century after the events Mega Man X5.
  • 2 August 2002: Capcom release Capcom vs. Midway 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001 for the Arcades.
  • 12 September 2002: Capcom release Capcom vs. Midway 2 for the PlayStation 2.
  • 13 December 2002: Capcom release Mega Man Chronicles for Windows.
