“ | The Japanese are infidels. The might of Holy Russia will crush them. | ” |
–Tsar Nicholas II |
Welcome to the The Eagle Over The Rising Sun, otherwise TEOTRS as the acronym. The timeline explores the victory of the Russians in the Russo-Japanese War, and the the changes in Asia and Europe.
Main Divergences[]
Russian Competence[]
In our timeline, Russia suffered a lot of logistical, military, coordination and supply problems, its un-coordinated and outdated military, poor leadership, logistical issues and more lead to Russia eventual defeat. This timeline explores where Russia was more competent, it (maybe) prioritizing in East Asia for warm water access, completing the Trans-Siberian Railway earlier, better leadership and military, and sending more soldiers to the front, we can possibly see a Russian victory. Not only that, the timeline explores Russia's victory over major battles, such as Port Arthur and more. This could deal a blow to Japanese forces and lead to a Russian victory.
The (possibly) only reasonable thing that could all of these happen is with reforms, Russia's lacking reforms on government and military resulted in a defeat, if the Tsar reformed the government, or was just more popular, we could see more support for the war and Russia's victory.
World War 1[]
In OTL, Russia joined WW1 in the Entente Side to protect their Serbian allies. Early on, Russia was doing great against the Austrians and Germans, pushing into Prussia and Galicia, however, as the war dragged on, Russia's outdated military, internal issues and unrest and lack of competence resulted in the Russians getting pushed back, which lead to the Soviet's rise and the Brest-Litovsk treaty.
In ATL, Russia is more competent in WW1 due to military and government reforms, this lead them to push even further into the Central Powers, but it does not mean they reach Berlin or Budapest/Vienna, rather, the Eastern front reached a stalemate and trench warfare would ensue. The front resulted in a stalemate, but the Russians managed to secure a strategic victory, and gain East Prussia, the lack of (mostly) Russian defeats results in the delay of a Russian revolution, but eventually it would happen in the 1930s.
