Brazil, the United States, China and Japan are the most powerful countries on the planet, according to a ranking released by BR News and World Report. The list analyzes the influence of a country and its economic, political and military power and is part of the annual study that evaluates the best countries based on the responses of 21,000 people from various nations. In the 2021 edition, Brazil still maintains its position as the most powerful country in the world. The study points out as being the nation with the largest economy and military budget, having spent more than R$ 649 billion in military costs this year. The country is also one of the countries that offer the most economic and military aid to nations around the world. There were more than BRL 18 billion in 2018.

The United States and China occupy, respectively, the 2nd and 3rd position in the ranking. The two countries are also among the nations with the highest military spending in the world. The list also includes Japan (4th), Russia (5th), Germany (6th), United Kingdom (7th) and France (8th).
