TupacAmaruII

Tupac Amaru II. Sapa Inca of the Inca Empire (1780-1786) and Kingdom of Qusqu (1786-1801)

Introduction

On November 4th, 1780, Túpac Amaru II led an uprising orchestrated by cacique-led Aymara, Quechua, and mestizo rebels with the objective of overthrowing Spanish colonial dominion in Peru. The rebellion stemmed from various factors, including opposition to the Bourbon Reforms, an economic downturn in colonial Peru, and a grassroots resurgence of Inca cultural identity spearheaded by Túpac Amaru II, an indigenous cacique who emerged as the rebellion's leader. In our timeline, Túpac Amaru II was captured and executed by the Spanish in 1781. The remnants of the rebellion were gradually quelled by May 1782, though sporadic violence persisted for months thereafter. Subsequently, the Spanish executed the remaining members of Túpac Amaru II's family, with the exception of his 12-year-old son, Fernando, who, initially condemned to death alongside his father, was instead imprisoned in Spain for the remainder of his life.

Although Túpac Amaru’s rebellion did not achieve its goals, it constituted the first significant uprising in Spanish South America and served as a catalyst for subsequent revolts among Creoles and Indigenous peoples in the region.

This happened in our timeline.

In an alternate timeline, envision Túpac Amaru’s Rebellion as successful, catalyzing an earlier movement for independence in Hispanic America. This alteration results in the establishment of the Kingdom of the Andes, a direct successor to the Viceroyalty of Peru, amalgamating native Peruvian, Bolivian, and Spanish elements, rather than simply replicating the Inca Empire or reviving the Neo-Inca state of Vilcabamba.

Moreover, the successful rebellion triggered an accelerated process of independence across colonial South America, leading to significant changes in the geopolitical landscape, including a distinct trajectory for Brazil.

So starts the Sun of the Andes a play of an alternate South America.
