  • July 8th, 1937: A conflict began between the Japanese and Chinese armies in Wanping, near the Marco Polo Bridge.
  • July 31st, 1937: Japan, in an effort to cease the growing conflict with its neighbor, opened negotiations in Nanjing. There they asked for cooperation from the Republic of China and promised that in return they would not take anymore traditionally Chinese land. Chiang Kai-Shek - the leader of the KMT army at that time - objected to Japan's terms and stated that Japan had crossed the line this time.
  • August 4th, 1937: While moving troops to Shanghai, Chiang, as well as other important leaders in the KMT, were unexpectedly shot by a Pro-Japanese rebel in the area. He died within three hours of the fatal wound in his side.
  • August 6th, 1937: Wang Jingwei declared himself the rightful heir to the KMT and was recognized by the Japanese Empire as the new leader of China.
  • August 7th, 1937: Members of Wang's KMT met in Shanghai and established peace with the Japanese government. The news was received well in Tokyo and August 7th became a national holiday known as 平和の日 (heiwa no hi); the "Day of Peace".
  • August 9th, 1937: Wang declared himself the new President of the Republic of China and declared his goals with the new national motto 和平反共建國; "Peace, Anti-Communism, National Construction".
  • August 23rd, 1939: The German-Soviet Non-aggression Pact was signed.
  • September 1st, 1939: Germany invades Poland, starting the second World War.
  • September 27th, 1940: Germany, Italy, Hungary, and Finland form a union. Their goal is to reclaim territories lost in the previous World War. Not too long after the remaining Scandinavian states were ordered to join the Axis or be obliterated.
  • August 22nd, 1944: Germany surrenders after the Americans drop an atomic bomb on Hamburg.
  • January 15th, 1945: The People's Republics of Mongolia and Tibet (the latter having been led by Mao Zhedong.) Chinese and Japanese forces are unable to repel the enemies due to them being armed with Soviet weaponry.
