The Tokyo sarin gas attacks were a series of attacks carried out by the Aum Shinrikyo cult on 20 and 21 March 1995. On March 20, cultists released sarin gas in several locations in Tokyo, which resulted in killing a total of 78 people and injuring 5,488 others. Among those killed were Emperor Akihito and Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama. The attacks were part of Aum Shinrikyo's anti-government and anti-social agenda, and their goal was to create a chaotic situation that would lead to societal collapse and a new world order following the subway sarin attack in the same day.

After the series of sarin attacks in the capital, Aum Shinrikyo became increasingly influential in Japanese politics and society, and eventually took over the entire country. Under their rule, Japan came under an ruthless and authoritarian theocratic cultist regime that was marked by violence, oppression, and multiple counts of human rights violations. Aum Shinrikyo's takeover of Japan eventually led to World War III just 2 days later, known professionally as the Armageddon, which devastated the planet and led to widespread destruction and death's of _ million people.
