The Autonomous Emirate of Transjordan under King Abdallah I has been separated from Palestine since 1923, officially independent from Great Britain since 1928, but its Finances and Security forces are still under influence of the latter. E.g. its Army has been built up by John Bagot Glubb ("Glubb Pascha") since 1930.
In 1940, it only has about 270,000 inhabitants.
