Transylvania (Romanian: Transilvania or Ardeal; Hungarian: Erdély), Republic of Transylvania (Romanian: Republica Transilvania or Republica Ardeal; Hungarian: Erdélyi Köztársaság), is a landblocked country in Southeastern Europe. It is bordered by Serbia to the southwest, Hungary to the west, Slovakia and Ukraine to the north, and Moldavia and Wallachia to the east. The capital and largest city is Cluj-Napoca.
The territory of today's Transylvania was under the control of several empires or tribes. Later in 1002, Transylvania came under Hungarian control. Today's Transylvanian state was created thanks to Hungarian defeats in World War I and the Transylvanian Revolution, which began in November 1914 and ended in May 1915 after Hungary surrendered. (WIP)
