The Treaty of Aden is a peace agreement between the Abbasid Caliphate, the Empire of Ethiopia, and the Zaidiyyah Shi'ites of Yemen, in reference to the ending of hostilities following the Red Sea War

Terms[]

  • The immediate ceasing of hostilities between all parties involved.
  • The region of Yemen will be absorbed by the Caliphate excluding the territory of Aden, which will be given under friendly terms to the Empire of Ethiopia.
  • The Empire of Ethiopia, the Caliphate, and the Zaidi Shi'ites will accept the following and recognize it for a minimum of twenty years.
  • Within that twenty-year time period, no party among the combatants of the war will declare war on the opposing party. This shall be enforced through good faith, and failure to comply or to cease use of this treaty will resume conflict.
  • The Empire of Ethiopia will allow unrestricted access through the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, and will additionally waive dock fees in Aden for all Caliphate-flagged ships throughout the length of the treaty.
  • Due to the term above, the city of Jeddah will like-wise waive all docking fees for Ethiopian-flagged ships.
  • Land trade will be re-instituted between the Caliphate and Ethiopia.
  • This treaty may be renewed.
