Alternative History

This treaty was negotiated between the United States and Mexico. It was criticized by many people, including Noam Chomsky, for its severity, including:

1. Mexico would pay reparations to America for the unprovoked invasion

2. Everything north of and including Sinaloa, Durango, Zacatecas, SLP, and Tamaulipas is to be ceded to the USA

3. Mexico is forbidden from having a military larger than 100 thousand men.

After this treaty, the Mexican president Luis Hunico hanged himself because of a combination of the shame of Mexico losing to the USA twice, as well as the risk of revolution by his people, as he was a totalitarian dictator.

When the Sandinista party won the 1946 elections in Nicaragua, they vowed to help Mexico reverse this treaty, but the US said that since Mexico was an aggressor power in the war, the treaty was set in stone.
