The Treaty of Burma 1651[]

The Treaty of Burma was a meeting between the Sultan of Bengal and the ruler of Burma.

The meeting led to the following conclusions:

  • Ahom will be annexed by Bengal.
  • Bhutan will be annexed by Bengal.
  • Burma will be annexed by Bengal.
  • The citizens of the newly annexed territories will have all the same rights as the the Bengali people.
  • A plan to rebuild the region will be put in place.
  • Citizens of the newly annexed territories will have their properties rebuilt.
  • Citizens of newly annexed territory will be allowed to keep their cultures and religions and do not and will not be influenced by Islam anything in that nature but still will be ruled over by the Sultan of Bengal.

The treaty was soon followed by celebrations across the region for hopes of prosperity for the people of Burma and Bengal to live together peacefully. As soon as the treaty was over, rebuilding destroyed sectors of the newly annexed territory were in the works and left both sides happy. It seems likely that due to this both cultures will be able to live in harmony and avoid tensions between the nation's now mixed culture.
