The Treaty of Edinburgh was signed in 1522 between the Principality of Vinland, the Kingdom of Scotland, the princes of the Celtic Confederacy, and the Spanish Empire. Prince in this treaty refers to sovereign rulers.

Terms

Section I

  1. The Kingdom of Scotland recognizes that the Principality of Vinland is a holy and sovereign Christian nation in the land called Meridia.
  2. The Kingdom of Scotland will guarantee such sovereignty and independence of Vinland.
  3. By such a guarantee, the Kingdom of Scotland and the princes of the Celtic Confederacy will defend the sovereignty of Vinland against princes and nations, Christian or savage, waging war on Vinland.
  4. The Principality of Vinland will not be vassalized, subjugated, or made tributary to the Kingdom of Scotland or any prince of the Celtic Confederacy.
  5. This treaty will be valid for a period of thirty years, to be renewed continuously so long as the Prince of Vinland and King of Scotland will for it to be.
  6. This treaty may be amended in the future upon the consent and signature of the Prince of Vinland and the King of Scotland.
  7. This section of the treaty will be valid as soon as signed by the Prince of Vinland and the King of Scotland.

Section II

  1. The Spanish Empire will act as an enforcer of this treaty, being a Catholic Kingdom of good standing in the eyes of the Kingdom of Scotland.
  2. The Spanish Empire will also defend the sovereignty of Vinland against princes or nations waging war on it.
  3. The Principality of Vinland will not be vassalized, subjugated, or made tributary to the Spanish Empire.
  4. The Spanish Empire will adopt a role akin to guaranteeing that the terms of this treaty are honored.
  5. The Spanish Empire will not be permitted to alter or block any term of this treaty without first proposing an amendment and receiving the explicit consent and signature of the Prince of Vinland and the Kingof Scotland.
  6. This section of the treaty will be valid as soon as signed by the Prince of Vinland, the King of Scotland, and the King/Emperor of Spain.
