Tungning (OTL Taiwan) was an island before the coast of China settled by various native people.
In 1385 (3082, Yin Wood Ox in the Chinese calendar), the emperor of Hong China made the first campaign against Nipponese pirates around Tungning.
Since 1500, overpopulation in China proper led to the state founding new settlements on Tungning, later on the Ma-i Islands (OTL Philippines), too.
During the 1620s, uprisings of the native Atayal and Bunun tribes on Tungning against Hong rule happened.
