The United Baltic Duchy (Estonian: Ühendatud Balti Hertsogiriik) is an independent state located in the Baltic region.

The country is independent since 1920, in the aftermaths of the Bolshevik revolution.
The country gained its independence after the Treaty of Tallinn signed with the Russian Empire in 1921, it was recognized by Poland-Lithuania and quickly after by the rest of the international community.
The constitution of the Duchy was ratified by the Congress on June 19, 1922. The Grand Duke Mindaugas II was elected on July 1.
The house of Urach is the current and sole ruling dynasty of the country.
The country cemented itself in the 1920’s and 1930’s. Little affected by the Great Depression, the country still had to face nationalist and communist oppositions.
The country was neutral during World War II but opened his ports to Russian and Polish-Lithuanian ships.
The country aligned itself with Russia in the Space Race to the detriment of Poland-Lithuania.
Baltic scientists and engineers helped their Russian counterparts notably on the Buran project.
The country aligned itself with the Western Community since the 1990’s. A more liberal constitution was ratified in 1995. The country joined the EC in 2002.
The country is nowadays a digital democracy, with a huge part of the population having access to high-speed internet.
The current Grand Duke is Wilhelm III since 2010.
