2015 General Election

In the 2015 General Election, David Cameron managed to win re-election. The Conservative Party won a plurality of seats but not a majority. With the Liberal Democrats not willing to form a coalition government, the Conservative Party and the insurgent UKIP Party formed a coalition with Nigel Farage becoming deputy Prime Minister. The 2015 General Election showed a clear shift towards euro-skepticism in the UK and would act as the backdrop for the 2016 Brexit Referendum.

The 2016 Brexit Referendum took place on June 23rd, 2016 to determine whether or not the United Kingdom should remain in the EU or not. While the UK independence party had favored a leave stance, the Conservative Party under Prime Minister Cameron favored a remain stance. The results were 51.89 percent voted leave while 48.11 percent voted remain. With these results, David Cameron faced a vote of no confidence as his coalition with UKIP collapsed. The vote of confidence lead to parliament deciding to hold a general election a month later.

In the 2016 General Election, Nigel Farage and UKIP managed to win a majority of seats in parliament securing 332 while the Conservative Party collapsed and Labour coming in second place with 262 seats won. Nigel Farage was sworn in as the next Prime Minister by Queen Elizabeth on August 1st, 2016. With the outbreak of World War 3 in late 2016, parliament agreed to postpone the Brexit process until the conclusion of the war.

Britain would assist NATO in fighting against the All-Russian Federation during World War 3. British troops were deployed to all places including North America and continental Europe. Britain being island provided it with natural protection that the other parts of Europe did not have.

Assassination of Nigel Farage

On May 1st, 2017; British Parliament voted to resume the Brexit process. With the western world rejoicing over their victory against Russia in the third world war, Nigel Farage was invited to partake in the victory ceremony in Washington D.C., while leaving from 10 downing street, someone broke in and took 3 shots at the Prime Minister before behind apprehended by the British secret service. The suspect was Peter Smith, a member of MI5 who was later revealed to have ties with Russia. On the same day, the UKIP party held an emergency vote to decide the next Prime Minister. MP Carl Benjamin of Swindon won the impromptu election and became the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom went into a week of mourning the late Prime Minister just a week after the glorious celebrations of the end of World War 3.

Premiership of Carl Benjamin (2017 - 2019)

The Premiership of Carl Benjamin began on May 1st, 2017 following the assassination of Prime Minister Nigel Farrage. Benjamin would champion Brexit and used everything in his power to try and get the United Kingdom out of the European Union as soon as possible. But Benjamin would face fierce opposition from the other parties in the House of Commons and the House of Lords. Benjamin would also prove to be a very divisive Prime Minister with his past controversies coming to light such as when he tweeted to MP Jesse Phillips "I wouldn't even rape you." in 2016 sparking national outrage. Despite pressure from his own party and across the country, Benjamin refused to resign or apologize for his past remarks. With the Brexit deadline being constantly pushed back and Benjamin facing backlash from his own party, the next general election was scheduled to May 15th, 2019 as Benjamin's government had proven to be very unstable. It was also decided to have a second Brexit referendum on the same day to see if the British people truly wished to go through with Brexit.
