The United Nations (UN) was an pre-Armageddon intergovernmental organization whose stated purposes are to maintain international peace and security, develop friendly relations among nations, achieve international cooperation, and served as a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations that operated mainly on international territory in New York City prior to March 1995. Its goals were similar to that of its predecessor, the League of Nations, and its post-Armageddon successor, the League of Nations Restoration Authority (LoNRA). The organization had other offices in Geneva, Nairobi, Vienna, and The Hague, where the International Court of Justice was headquartered.
The UN was established after World War II with the aim of preventing future world wars, and succeeded the League of Nations, which was characterized as ineffective. On 25 April 1945, 50 nations met in San Francisco, California for a conference and started drafting the UN Charter, which was adopted on 25 June 1945. The charter took effect on 24 October 1945, when the UN began operations. [UNDER PROGRESS]
It has been portrayed in media after March 1995 as a failed attempt at establishing world peace and stopping Aum Shinrikyo's affairs in Japan after March 20th sarin gas attacks in Tokyo, an organisation that despite trying to keep the world balanced couldn't prevent the misunderstanding on March 23rd, 1995 from escalating further.
