The United States of Greater Austria (German: Vereinigte Staaten Von Groß-Österreich), also known as Greater Austria, USGA, or simply Austria, was a large, multi-ethnic state in Central Europe. Born out of the 1919 Compromise, it restructured the old Habsburg Monarchy into a federal state, with autonomy granted to local ethnicities. The head of state remained the Habsburg Emperor, though his power was reduced under the new system. Through the Great Depression of the '30s and early '40s, the rise of Austrofascism saw many of the reforms repealed, leading to increased ethnic tensions, and eventually a breakdown of effective governing. This ultimately lead to the German Invasion under the pretext of "restoring order", which would then plunge the world into the largest war in history.
