Arizona troops stationed near Tucsun were sent south east to meet the Mexican invasion. Confederates for Lousiana attacked Mexican fources from the east. Wile Mexican forces had brought up some supplys and artilery, they wern't ready for this. Mexicans near Columbus held their own. On the east of the battle Arizona tanks and armered cars were pushing Mexicans back. Calafornia troops rushed Gila Bend. There was a short but, intensed strugle. At the end of the day Calatornia had won. This exposed them to even more danger. Not knowing that troops in Tucson were fighting elsewere, believed that counter attack from the south was possible. Arizon troops from Flagstaff and Phoneix began digging in arround Casa Grande. If Calafornia broke through here they could turn north and link up with group north, cutting Arizona in two. On one hand Calafornia generals were concerned about an attack from either flank. On the other takeing Casa Grande was essential to victory. The artillery bombardment started at 6:00 AM sharp. It went on untill 8:00 AM when tanks, armered cars both human and remote controled went foreward. Wile Arizona fources had some anti-tank weapons they were too few. Calafornia infantry followed. Wile the battle was long and desperate in the end Calafornia was the new owner of Gila Bend.
