Waves of Alt-hist wiki contributors

In the chat we were talking about the waves of new contributors to the WIKI. Here is an old blog post about sort-of the same topic back when I joined the wiki.

So when did you join the wiki? Why did you join?

I was also thinking maybe we could create a social history of this wiki. After all its been going nearly 10 years now! Creating a history article which explores the wiki's history would be a cool way to honour the wiki's 10th birthday!

What do you all think???

Highly liberalized drug war in UK

Basically this timeline is to help me illustrate a point for one of my university classes, it’s about if the war on drugs was to end. Thus I understand this could be either an alternative history or an alternative future depending on the P.O.D. But since I can account for other technological and social changes, it is better as an alternative history for me to do as I have greater control over the control variables of this experiment. This timeline is based mainly in the UK but the effects would be felt globally.

Basically it involves New Labour’s drug policy being much more radical and liberal. Drug legalization happens basically thanks to a more liberal-drug policy in New Labour following their 1997 campaign win. However I am struggling to…

Early World War I Map Game

Hi guys long time no speak.

Well I was thinking about continuing my Early World War I timeline after seeing this blog post. And I thought that a good way to test the water and spark my interest would be to create a map game based on my timeline to see where things might go after the first world war taking place. I haven't got anything written or set in stone for my timeline post 1916 so I think this would be fun way to try create some content for my timeline's 'future'.

You guys would continue it from 1916 (where I last made content in the timeline from) and I'd happily act as a neutral mod (as in without a country) to judge on ASB, rule breaks and crap. This also because its my timeline and I don't want to make it biased based on what my co…

Atlantropa

Have any of you ever heard of Herman Sörgel's ambitious  project? It never got anywhere due to the fall of Nazi Germany, Sorgel's death, the huge cost of the project, environmental damage and destruction of many tradition cultures.

I don't think it is feasible due to these things but if a single state ruled the region then I could see it being somewhat likely, albeit every destructive. It still intrigues me as I can see some of the good the project would have done.

Anyone else got more detailed knowledge of this project? What you think of it?

I am also slightly interested in pursuing a timeline which has this project being completed. Perhaps the Americans fail to build a nuclear bomb, meaning the Nazis win or the USSR take over. This sort of …

Alternate universes, probability and alternative outcomes

The way I think about it is that for every tiny little decision/event (I'm talking all the way down to a sub-atomic level here people) their is an infinite amount of universes created for the other infinite amount of actions that could of taken place. That mean's that there are parallel universes for absolutely any and everything that has ever happened or could have happened.

That said I think it is possible for any sort of ASB, but I do note that it maybe isn't the most probable thing to happen given the situation but somewhere there is an alternate universe where it did happen. So I try to make things go differently and hence in most alternate histories we assume that everything else stayed the same unless mentioned, and this is mostly do…
