|Hello and welcome to the Alternate History Wiki!|
The Alternate History Wiki is a project for all communities concerned with creating fictional alternative histories. We hope you will feel at home here and wish you good luck contributing to our ever growing collection of alternative histories.
Hey, I just wanted to say hi to the wiki's newest user. I'm Scrawland Scribblescratch. Mostly known here as Scraw. I'm not an admin or anything like that, but if you have question or something like that I'm pretty sure I can help you.
Anyways, I hope ya have a good time on this place and all that other merry jolly stuff.
Guten tag! :)
Firstly I like the idea. However there are multiple scientific inaccuracies. This site will help you. I have taken the time to enter in the asteriods details and got the projected 600 megaton hit. You can alter the distance measurement if you wish. Scandinator (talk) 04:42, July 30, 2012 (UTC)
Also the death tolls... USA alone would lose at least 10 million probably 20 million-ish. This is with a wave about 30 or so metres high. Since they would hit unprepared, large, low-lying cities barely 20 minutes after impact. There would be massive repair and assistance operations by the government. The US would ignore Kuwait since it would need years to recover and the USSR would tough it out a little longer than 1991. 9/11 never happens in this ATL.Scandinator (talk) 04:55, July 30, 2012 (UTC)
So, no Hitler, eh? First off I'd just like you to remember that you shouldn't take my answers as absolutely correct, and that you should always double-check with someone else.
That said, I'll try to answer your question(s).
In the 1930s, Germany was on the verge of becoming a wasteland. The people were desperate. I think it's safe to say that anyone except communists or socialists would rise to power. Anton Dressler had his little NSDAP (Nazi) Party, but Hitler got it back on its feet. It already had people like Himmler and Goebbels, and I'm sure Goebbels or Dressler could've taken the Nazis to power in Germany. However, the odds are that the original Nazi leader would be faced by opposition from the Nazis themselves, and would be overthrown again and again until a suitable leader was found, or until someone became an absolutist dicator-like person.
Given that, World War II would start off a little bit later, as not all the Nazis were obsessed with Germans owning all the German homelands. But someone would pull the trigger, definitely. War was just itching to blow out.
I can't go beyond that without entering a quagmire of implausibility. I hope I've helped in some form.
Also, be sure to check out the Stirlings! You have enough edits to nominate things, if I'm not mistaken.
Hitler never used that last name. His father did have that last name originally, but changed it to "Hitler" more than a decade before Adolf was born.
In a different universes, it's not impossible for his father to have kept that last name - however, any timeline without major changes prior to his birth would still have his last name be Hitler.
Basically, I'm saying that his last name is not going to be Schicklgruber.
Re: WWII Question
Hmmmm... well, it is a bit tricky removing the one man that virtually defined an entire era of human history. However, removing Hitler would reduce the Nazi Party to an insignificant abomination of socialism and nationalism (the reason Hitler killed Rohm in the Night of Long Knifes in 1934 was because he wanted to create a Socialist-utopia, only with Nationalist ideals, but Hitler didn't want that).
Since, if I'm guessing right, your most likely going to keep the outcome of World War One the same, correct? If that's the case, the supposed "stab in the back" that the generals claimed would still be there, but it will most likely not go very far, sorta like the 9/11 and JFK Assassination conspiracy theories: popular to many people, but otherwise ignored or unimportant, unless the Communists took that to heart, but I highly doubt they would.
So, with the Nazi's out of the way, I could actually see the Wiemar Republic last longer, as the Communists weren't actively trying to overthrow the state like the Nazi's were. The various Nationalist groups, unless a strong leader like Hitler came to unify them, would remain weak and divided, but the Communists wouldn't be able to gain a significant advantage, because Germany is, at heart, a very Conservative nation, and with many wealthy Junker's and Industrialists that would do their best to oppose a Communist party, they will support anyone that stands up to them. Germany will remain non-committed in foreign affairs, though I'm sure if the USSR starts raising his head, they will work with Britain and France if offered.
With Germany remaining in a democratic deadlock, especially once the Great Depression sets in, I think the next two likely aggressors in a possible European war will be either Italy, or the Soviet Union. Italy seems to be the stronger beat for actually starting something, but, like Italians, they will fail. If they get the first shot, they will aim for the Balkans, most likely Greece or Albania, and might try to make an alliance with Bulgaria and/or Romania. However, if Mussolini gets really ambitious, he might try for Yugoslavia, which could be even worse. All in all, if Italy is the
The Soviet Union will most likely not even consider anything until the 1940s, Stalin most likely wanting to ensure his own position, and a strong industrial base, before expanding. He will most likely purge the army and the party, which will destroy its effectiveness, unless they start with a weaker nation, like the Baltic States, Poland or Romania. However, if someone like Churchill eventually does come to power in the UK (which he might without being thrown into the "wilderness" for denouncing appeasement, which won't happen if Hitler isn't there to push for it), I could see an alliance of UK, Germany, France and Italy versus the Soviets, which will result in a massive battle in Central and Eastern Europe, but this won't be the "world war" the Second one was. Of course, I'm starting to think it will be a "Red Alert" scenario, so, play with it what you will.
I know I'm kinda rambling here, but I would like to emphasize that, even if Hitler isn't around, there are still plenty of bullies on the block, like Italy and the Soviets, which present some interesting options for a different war, but maybe not a truly "world" war, as I think the US will more likely stay out of it, and instead worry about Japan making some stunt, which they will anyway, but I highly doubt it will mean dragging in the rest of the world. Re:Your recent edits...
More or less. I am gradually removing duplicate files (not just PNG files), though it is more of a side-project I do every now and then. Yes, it does require a lot of edits. I would like to acquire a bot to help out with such edits, but I'm not an expert on coding to create one. So it is just me and a few other users who are removing duplicates one at a time. --NuclearVacuum (Talk) 01:08, April 22, 2013 (UTC)
I'll add you to the template, and I encourage you to make a page. There have been a few moderator events about Texas, but so far there hasn't been much I needed to say. Mscoree (talk) 20:42, May 15, 2013 (UTC)
An Alliance you say? A pact with the Devil? Intriguing...
An alliance... I have a few conditions. Given that we are a native state who are in the process of reclaiming historic lands I would ask that you leave native states ( *cough* *cough* atlzan) alone. If this means not attacking allies please do not do so. As far as we see you are imperialistic agressors. We have no reason to trust you (In game that is). What benefits can you bring. Also your government is looking shaky. What do we do if the friendly government collapses? We are a people of honour but we must defend ourselves.
Yes, that is where part of it comes from.
Cold War or not, it would still be released in the US if it exists in Japan - the date may change, but it still would end up getting there. Money trumps politics, remember. Given things, I'd guess it still gets created too - Nintendo and its designers would still be around, after all.
The name, for me, originates with a text-based online game. Was big on LoZ at the time, and have always been a fan of "noble" titles. First choice was something with "Link" in it, but everything just sounded wrong to me at the time. Figured that "Lord" and "Ganon" worked together, so I went with it as a username. From there, through a couple more games, it just sort of merged the two words (a name requirement elsewhere caused that) together, and it's been like this since.
Prisoners of War is correct
Prisoners of War IS correct.
Re: Resolution Six
Good. I tried vey hard to make it watertight. Half an hour. Given I spend a lot of time looking for loopholes in rules etc. for fun (but then again sports rules are interesting... you should see the other teams faces... sometimes the referees as well) I think it's pretty good. Though i forgot to mention extinct creatures that are 'un-extincted'. prehaps the 'at any time' covers that? I put it in to block time travel mostly...
Meh... Lawyer or laymen, cover all bases, no matter how obscure. Song of the humans.

I too believe you've done a fairly well job. Congratulations, you are now a full moderator. Feel free to make some moderator events, just make sure they don't contradict me or anything like that. If you have an idea to do something radical, contact me first. Good luck! Mscoree (talk) 14:32, June 20, 2013 (UTC)

Can you get on briefly.
Umm... You said we should send you event ideas, and I don't have a solid idea, but I think that a 20 ft tall killer zombie from Deep Science is now rampaging through the USA, as Florida released it. Just thought I should mention it Mafia (talk)
In the ruins of the French Empire
Romae Delenda Est Begins
2003.75 Mod events
I feel quite a few of these are obsquere and are fairly implausible. Begining with the following:
The regions of southern France again petition for unification and separation from Iberian influence. Peace talks are scheduled to occur with the Dutch controlled regions of France, the nations of the Celtiberian Community, and other small French communities.
First off the above event makes a reference to the Peace talks to occur, when they have never been discussed or even thought of by the Southern French governments, Brittany, or Netherlands France. All of whom are player controlled. Based on the past, while some may want to unify France, they are clearly in the minority in the whole French realm.
Uproar is quelled following the decision to separate the Netherlands from South Africa. The Netherlands still remain heavily tied to South Africa politically, despite public opinion, and the government hopes to establish peaceful trade.
This was already discussed above in a different section, how a treaty from over two years ago with no mention would be considered nul and void by any government. Furthermore, ever think of the how the people have bonded over their 30 years an union. While a union or colonial possession can have a rise for independence, looking at history in OTL which includes the history of this ATL, a possession normaly takes 100s of being with a nation to even think about independence. Also in this case it isnt even a colony, but rather a equal partner state, that has more to gain from South Africa than South Africa does from it.
After a slight rise in nationalism over the last few years, a period that many begin to refer to as Decolonization begins. Many in Europe feel that the days of massive empires to ensure stability and anti-zombie efforts are over, and many call for the peaceful release of liberated, vassalized, and otherwise occupied areas to form local governments.
This one bugs me the most. Clearly with the prior mod events discuss on French-Dutch Sphere. It upsets me that there is no mention of Germany, which is by definition fits this desrcription in the fact that has directally annexed numerous states including the HRE, Luxemburg, Liechtenstein, Slovakia, Slovania, Alsace-Lorraine. In addition the once clearly free region of Nordic Germany (equivelent being Schleswig Holstein and Hamburg). Many of which, including but not limited to Slovania, contain a different culture.
In addition to what i feel like is selective targeting. There was no buidup to this sort of event, it was just declared. I dont think we can imply that such a buildup would happen either, as the precent in both mod events and turns is that such changes take time and need to be stated, not just randomoly declared.
Despite General Bao’s capture, massive resistance from the former Chinese Confederacy still remain. Chinese officials demand the creation of a Chinese republic free from Korean rule. About 2,000,000 fresh soldiers are raised in the north from the virtually untapped manpower pools. Peace talks are scheduled to begin between a transitional government and Korean officials.
This event falls into the further massive confustion that started pre-WW3 with a map forcing Wu and Vietnam onto what many east asian nations considered improper sides. However, mod events in 2002.50 appeared to completly ignored a Korean Bailout, a Pro-Korean Wu governemnt (being their vassal). Furthermore. 2 million soldiers, cant just appear in a region that has been torn with war for at least 2 decades, and closer to three. In addition, peace talks have already been established and signed by Korea and many chinese nations. Once again, showing a failure to understand East Asia.
Following Germany’s acceptance of Switzerland’s alliance offer, the Central Alliance is reborn between Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, Malta, Northern Italy, Italy, and the Confederation of the Baltics.
This mod event is a standard recap of past turns, and is a good one at that. However, it clearly shows lack of having read the past turns. If this event had accounted for only the previous turn, it would be known that N. Italy doesnt exist. Furthermore, this mod event breaks the rules of controlling a players nation, in this case Italy, who has been active over the past two days. In addition, this mod event clearly does not understand that Italy and Northern Italy's governments are sworn enemies at this point thin the game. Following Nothern Italy's attempt to humiliate the Italian government on a national stage.
Following the successful Arabian invasion of Israel, the nations of the Middle East begin peace talks. Israel asks for autonomy within the federation, much like the other states, and states that the city of Jerusalem will be its own neutral zone for all peoples to enter.
This is one of the better mod events. Even if you disregard that while other nations appear to be demaning independence, Isreal is willing to submit itself to a nation that doesnt even share a like culture? It it really plausible for Isreal to submit to being in a state when they are a Jewish state? And in the history of this game alone, have shown a propensity and tendencey not to get along with the Islamic states (ex: leaving the EHU, support of Turkey, etc.) While the city of Jerusalem idea would be proposed, Isreal would be adminent about keeping its own state, especially since the Federation is functioning like one nation more than ever before.
While I understand everyone is busy. It seems like there is clear missunderstandings, and when someone tries to explain what happenend and why, It appears that their actions are clearly targeted, retconned, or held against them ingame.
Implausible Moderator Events
- I'm offering those nations the chance for unification. It makes sense that after several decades the idea of unification would be on the French nations' agendas. Since these nations are player controlled, if they don't want to then they can decline.
- I've already discussed the Netherlands issue on the talk page, but I still think it makes sense for the Netherlands to seek independence.
- This is not targeted at anyone in particular. Secondly, the analysis of German states is horribly wrong. The HRE is Germany itself, Luxembourg was a German state historically and was in the HRE in the first place, Liechtenstein is also a German state (one conquered and not manhandled with diplomacy, at that), Slovakia isn't a part of Germany, Slovenia is probably the only correct example, and will eventually be released, and Alsace-Lorraine, which is also a historically German state.
- The Chinese Confederation has/had a military of at least six million. I don't think its implausible that two million soldiers have been raised from the nation's least war torn, most populated areas.
- Northern Italy surrendered in their last turn, and therefore their respective occupied zones are in the alliance. I can remove that nation if it makes the situation better.
- Unlike before Israel is actually fully occupied. Therefore they're asking for peace and will be annexed.
Hi. Could you meet me on Chat?
You're welcome. But, actually I only reverted that guy's edits on your TL. The one who blocking him was Kogasa as I am only a candidate member, not full member of TSPTF who have a power to block anyone :) FirstStooge (talk) 00:38, August 21, 2013 (UTC)
