Merveilles du Monde
Hi! I'm Crim, one of the moderators of Merveilles du Monde. We're excited to have you guys onboard. However, a number of users, myself included, are worried that such a large group of people who know each other IRL would meatpuppet, intentionally or not. Meatpuppeting, similar to sockpuppetry, is using friends and acquaintances to support their main account. To ensure the game remains fair and plausible, we're going to have to split you and your friends up and ask you to pick a nation outside of Europe. This will not affect your allotted nation swap for this century. Sorry for the inconvenience and please message me on my talk page if you have any questions. Imperial Election in MdM
Hello there - the player for Saxony here, replying to the message you left on my talk page. I completely understand that you want to create interesting historical stories, and I'm glad to see you have the interests of the HRE at heart. However, having announced my candidancy for Emperor, I feel it's a bit too late to back down now. But should you be elected, I promise to graciously accept you as Emperor, and pay homage to you. Although, I might vote for you if you promise to:
-Legitamize your children by Anna (Amalia) de la Marck.
-Stop all anti-Swiss propaganda in the Empire (in fact I'd be quite pleased if you promoted the Swiss, and maybe award the Duke of Lenzburg new lands).
-Give Engelbert II of Saxony a position in your cabinet.
-Elevate Wasaborg (ruled by Engelbert's cousin as a semi-independant part of Saxony) from a County to a Duchy.
-Give Saxony a few new lands and titles.
I understand this may seem a bit much, but we can negotiate, if you'd like...
I admire your faithfulness to character. I understand that your character personally dislikes the Swiss, but he could still stop publicly denouncing them, at least for the moment, but go on despising them in private. What do you say? Marrybore (talk) 04:05, April 14, 2020 (UTC)
I will support you as Emperor, but I hope your character does not die before Cardinal von Isenburg. I plan on continuing to centralize the empire and strengthen the posistion of the Emperor, and it's good to have a supportive ally in that position.Johnreiter902 (talk) 12:49, April 14, 2020 (UTC)
Cardinal von Isenburg will die around 1482. So far, I have used the last 12+ years to create an administrative framwork that will give the Emperor more direct and total control over the Imperial immediaces, particularlly in the matters of law and finance. I am planning to transfer control over the financial system to a new office, the Lord Imperial Treasurer, in charge of all the revenue from the Imperial immediaces, as well as a new, central Imperial mint. The permanent base for the Imperial treasury and mint would be in the Free Imperial City of Nuremburg, which would help to eventually establish it as the official and permanent Imperial capital (since it is an Imperial immediacy). I also plan to modernize the Army of the Holy Roman Empire, created in 1422. It is disorganized, as no central command structure, no regular training, and so forth. I want to put an able commander in charge, a vertern of the Greek War, who will build it into a professional military that can enforce the Emperor's will. I would also have him use the lessons of the war to push for more modern firearms and cannons, witht he support of the Pope. That's most of the short term stuff, though I will also support the Archbishop of Cologne's judicial reforms. Ultimatly, the Empire should have a centrally organized justice system, a better version of the Reichskammergericht.Johnreiter902 (talk) 11:41, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
Situation in the HRE from Mainz
I'm sorry I messed up your plans. I would be happy to erase the call to arms in the Emperor's name, but the rest is in my character's nature. For three years the Archbishop has been trying to get the emperor to stamp out the hersey, and every year Jungism spreads. The reformation needs to be stoped. The Free Imperial cities are not really "free" for over 50 years the Archchancellors have been making them the personal property of the Emperor. I did not know you had a plan for the prodistants, but I hope things work out.
As for me, I think I have done about all I can. The navy will be up to snuff for the Emperor by 1525. I hope the free education continues. I doubt the HRE will survive if the reformation is not crushed completly. But I hope your plan works, whatever it is. I have decided to resign from the game.Johnreiter902 (talk) 23:26, May 14, 2020 (UTC)
Current plans for the Reformation
First, since the Emperor has been captured by the prodistants, is this a good time to finally declar war? Or is this still all part of the plan?
Second, I have an idea to possible solve th eproblem of the reformation in Germany.
Currently, the Archbishop of Mainz automatically holds the office of Primate of Germany. This means, he is the Holy See of Christendom beyond the Alps. He acts in the place of the Pope, holding authority of the Pontiff over all the Archbishoprics in Germany. My suggestion, is to disolve the office of Primate of Germany, and transfer all the authority of that office to the Jungist Synod, making that body the de facto Primate of Germany. This would put them in charge of all the Jungist churches in Germany, and all the Catholic chruches at the same time. It would give the Jungists what they want, and maintain the unity of the Church. However, they would have to agree to no longer teach separation from the church, but reform within it. If they are still unwilling, I would dangle the carrot of making the Synod an advisory body to the Pope. That is, if the Pope makes a decree that the Synod does not except as Biblical, they could choose not to establish it in Germany. What do you think? Would that work with your plan?Johnreiter902 (talk) 13:38, May 17, 2020 (UTC)
