Long time no see. Hope you have been doing good.
I was hoping you could help help me with a naming question.
I recently came across the Estados Unidos Perú-Bolivianos and the name "Los Incas." I'm tempted to use this name instead of "Tahuantinsuyo" in my Russian America (due to it being shorter and easier on the tongue). However, I wanted to get a native Spanish-speaker's prospective on what this name for a country would work.
Does the name "Los Incas" (two words) sound good for a Spanish-speaking country? (similar to "El Salvador" or "La Pampa"). Or would it be further shortened to "Inca" in normal conversation?
- Thank you for your reply. I'm happy to hear you and your family are doing well. My family and myself have been doing alright given the circumstances.
- I had a feeling "Los Incas" sounded off, so thank you for the clarification.
- In regards to your suggestion of "República Inca", could the name "Inca" work as a short name? Or is it also too descriptive of the people to work? I'm asking because of Argentina (República Argentina) and the Venezuelan state of Portuguesa (Estado Portuguesa) (which I just learned).
Thank you once again for your help. I really wanted to avoid using a double-barrel name for the country, but you are right that I don't see any clearer alternative. All good in the end. Thank you again. =) -- NuclearVacuum 02:40, June 20, 2020 (UTC)
- No worries. It's all good. I'm currently in the process of reworking the history for the Peru-Bolivian Confederation in my timeline. All-in-all, I'm starting to dig the name "Peru and Bolivia" or "Peru-Bolivia" as the short name (makes more sense the more I think about it). I just wanted to know if there were alternatives. I also wanted to avoid naming this country something that would sound awful in their native tongue.
