Revert mistake
I am so sorry about that. I am at work, using my phone and I hit the wrong button. I was ony trying to hit the arrow key on my watchlist to view the section. Please forgive me, complete accident on my part --NuclearVacuum 21:08, October 15, 2010 (UTC)
- Update: I just got off of work, and just wanted to clarify what happened. I wanted to read what you wrote on the page, but I accidental hit the rollback button. I smacked myself in the head and went to revert what I had done, but you beat me to the punch. Please forgive me, it was a complete accident. Why does the rollback option go automatically, while the undo option has a page which asks you if you want to do it? --NuclearVacuum 01:19, October 16, 2010 (UTC)

hello
it appears you have not got rid of me
regards your friend owen1983
But we're trying, Owen. I was the only one "on your side" until I saw how persistent and crafty you are. I have never seen anyone butcher the Queen's English - both spelling and grammar - as bad as you do. But I have to give to, you know how to sneak around on this wiki. My suggestion to you, though, is to start your own wiki. Maybe others will wish to add to it as much as you like to add to ours. SouthWriter 00:26, October 16, 2010 (UTC)
I've just been on Owens user page after a couple of days away to find that someone (Owen by the look at the spelling) has signed a section with my name giving you abuse. just to let ou know it wasn't me--Smoggy80 16:44, October 16, 2010 (UTC)
Wanted pages
I am dealing with the more obvious - and my intention was to edit the list 'a group at a time' (rather than 'multiple minor edits') Jackiespeel 21:42, October 16, 2010 (UTC)
Some of the 'wanted pages not belonging to any timeline' seem to be best served by 'placeholders and dicdefs', and sometimes 'reference to Wikipedia for the OTL version' can be the most convenient .
Would it be possible to create a page covering 'time zones and related topics' - which would would include Central European Time, Central European Summer Time, UTC+1, UTC + 2 (and 'all the rest of them') and Time Zones etc? Jackiespeel 17:24, October 18, 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps there should be a 'General resolve a red-link week' (g). Jackiespeel 17:54, October 18, 2010 (UTC)
Laos
What was the reasoning behind making the article on Laos obsolete?
Yankovic270 18:20, October 18, 2010 (UTC)
Chumash-Virginia
You don't need ports to trade you can use trucks and even though it probably wouldn't be used between the two, cargo planes. Riley.Konner 21:15, October 19, 2010 (UTC)
Templates
I went over the articles I've made or co-wrote for things that don't work with the new layout. Both of the two look.... very odd, with the templates used there. Not like the templates were necessary anyway.
Lordganon 14:11, October 20, 2010 (UTC)
Way I figure it, they're going to make us use it anyway, may as well get used to it now.
Most articles seem to be fine - Malta had too many templates - should have done that one a while ago - and the pictures on ~Don forced it to the side, which looked terrible.
Lordganon 14:20, October 20, 2010 (UTC)
All right, though I did remove the one from Malta - like I said, I should have done that one long ago.

Indiana Obsolete?
Just wondering, Mitro, by what criteria did you mark Indiana "obsolete"? It appears that Arstar was making progress, and Sunkist was agreeing, toward a viable association of communities in central Indiana (outside the authority of Kentucky). There had been no activity there in about three weeks, but I think it is a viable proposal. "Obsolete" means that it just doesn't fit - and thus is irrevalent. A significant population survived, and I even provided a scenario where a "local hero" could return. So what is the problem? SouthWriter 16:31, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
Is it okay if I reenter my Wabash Union proposal?

General articles
The thing is - many of these terms are linked from many other contexts (including infoboxes), and in most cases it is not practical to either remove the redlinks or provide a explanatory footnote in context.
If 'the proverbial someone' would set up several Althistory Wiki Dicdefs pages to which all such general entries could be added (political terms, OTL states etc), the 'wanted pages' would be significantly reduced, those who have a taste for resolving such matters could work away busily and generally improve the wiki without cluttering it up.
Some of us prefer 'contributing text' to 'doing the technical aspects' :) Jackiespeel 17:16, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
So what should be done about all the red links then? (Removing all the square brackets from infoboxes and elsewhere is rather time consuming). Jackiespeel 17:30, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
- Working in rich text, highlight the link (or paragraph if it contains several red links) and click the "broken" link icon next to the "link." Here is a "tutorial"
Note red test
Highlight link and click the "unlink" icon
Could a 'Platonic infobox' be created, onto which all dicdefs (area, Prime Minister/Minister President, GDP etc 'and all the rest of them') are pasted, to which the other infoboxes are automatically linked (thus eliminating the associated red links)? Or is it 'category of things which are useful but require more work than the proposer is aware of'?
Perhaps what is required on the Special pages is 'a list of tasks for those wishing to contribute on a more general basis' (other than going round looking for typos and long paragraphs). Thus, for example 'providing the geographicals' for states in various timelines (Hawaii (Our America) would be an example) so the timeline-owners can get on with the more interesting parts. Jackiespeel 18:36, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
Municipal States
Did Arstar get your permission to rename your article from Municipal States of the Pacific to Municipal States?BrianD 20:46, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
I changed it because it was easier to insert on other pages. Arstar 20:47, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
Without asking the caretaker's permission. Are you the head administrator of this TL now? BrianD 20:51, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
- I'll leave my response here so both of you see it. I am not particulary angry with Arstar for renaming the article. If I was, I'd be a hypocrite since today I already renamed an article without discussing it with the caretaker first. Considering Brian's reaction, I probably should be more respectful of the caretaker when editing articles. Neverthless, Arstar's edit is probably a good thing. Considering the naming conventions already make article titles excessively long, we should move toward making the names of articles as compact as possible. Mitro 21:01, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
Fair enough. I personally prefer that the caretaker do so, as he/she knows that particular article best. But that is my preference, and certainly not something that should be binding on the TL. --BrianD 21:13, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
Great Britain Fiasco
I truly apologise for my own patriotic idiocy. It gets the better of me at times. I have undone most of yesterdays outburst, but I need an administrator in order to move the Great Britain page back to the East Britain page. Bob 12:10, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
Resigning
Mitro I come to you to "hand over my badge" today. I no longer want to work on the TSPTF for the foreseeable future. I made one, well, two arguments on the UC and Ogasawara and Brian started shouting that I'm some immature little kid that storms off thw site when I please and comes back telling people what to do (my mini wikibreak was for multiple reasons but I did not storm off). Well Brian made his comments known and by then everyone jumped in. If I am such an immature kid I am not worthy of stinking up the whole site so why should I be trusted with the keys? I would however like to keep my rollback rights for work purposes only as it makes reverting bad edits so much easier. Finally I am not here to make everyone feel sorry for me but I just want to know the reasoning behind that big stink that Brian started. Before I left for ten days I was on a good note with most of the wiki, working on my articles and cooperating and trying to get my own articles graduated but I guess what was an overreaction on my part started a whole stink that now everyone is pointing fingers at me. Personally I don't know whether to leave the entire site or not but since I like working here, I am not sure.
I also want it to make it known that I do not think rules should be bent for me, I do not want special treatment, and I don't want people to do something because they think I might go mad if they don't. I do have medical conditions like three other members on this site, I have AD(H)D, I was medically diagnosed of having pretty bad Attention defecits (not your average case of ADD) but I don't know which type, ADD or ADHD. But sometimes on this site I will say something and people will take it totally different, so sometimes I wonder if I have a mental illness that makes my thoughts and what come out two different things.
Anyways, that's all I have to say. Arstar 22:53, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, it just makes everything so much easier. But do what you feel is just. As for reapplying I am going to wait a couple months, I'm gonna do my own thing and worry about my own articles, I might think about returning when I get out of school for Winter Break. But until than see you then. Arstar 02:02, October 27, 2010 (UTC)
A last note, do I count as an Officer Emeritus? I mean I resigned but I'm still active so is it like a dishonorable discharge or do I have permission to list myself? Arstar 02:10, October 27, 2010 (UTC)
Cascadia Adoption?
Mitro, might I adopt and expand this article (or, if you aren't the caretaker, could you direct me to whomever is?)? I have family out there and visit for most of the summer, and I think I have some knowledge of the area.
Here's the URL, my hyperlink button isn't working: http://althistory.wikia.com/wiki/Cascadia_(1983%3A_Doomsday)
Thanks,

Go swallow a fucking knife and die pal. I paid J Howell to rape you. You're old, you go to art school, your best friend is you, you live in a houseboat, you look like an orphan, you've got cancer, your girlfriend left you, you lit a baby on fire, you became a counsellor so you could tell rape victims that they asked for it, you got a pharmaceutical job for the sole purpose of overdosing on pills, you sent nazi concentration camp footage to america's funniest home videos, you sold a dog to a chinese restaurant, you snuck a retard into a sperm bank, your cousin is George Lynch, you drive an IROC, you have goals, you like Dishwalla and Everclear (you're gay) and your mom was pregnant so you kicked her in the stomach. In closing, mitro, I used to like you, but you're a fucking faggot and everything I just said above describes you perfectly.

- Not trying to bait here, but that was pretty sad for a 27-years-old. Also, over at Tranquility Lane they have something to block out account creation by former members; don't we have something similar here? --XterrorX 09:55, October 31, 2010 (UTC)

you are one seriously screwed up guy Owen! and matt he probably got the spelling right coz he plagerised it from somewhere else, going by the Amercianisms, from a site in the USA--Smoggy80 17:50, November 2, 2010 (UTC)
I don't blame anyone for not wanting to google that paragraph...it's pretty nasty.
I googled several phrases and they all had one thing in common: they (or their variants) are track listings for a American band named Anal Cunt. BrianD 20:33, November 2, 2010 (UTC)
Maybe we should contact the band and tell them someones plagerising their work? from their name i think they'll have some choice words for Owen! maybe they've got a good lawyer to sue him for stealing their lyrics?--Smoggy80 16:53, November 3, 2010 (UTC)

USAR
Hey Mitro. 6 days ago I asked for any remaining objections on the US Atlantic Remnant. Nobody has said anything as of yet, but graduating this article will cause a drastic element change in the timeline and my gut feeling is that this article will end up in a review sometime down the road. If there aren't any more objections for the next while please graduate if you get the chance, okay? I just don't want people to say I "snuck it by everyone" and graduated it when nobody was looking or something like that. Thanks. Arstar 04:30, November 1, 2010 (UTC)
The biggest element that I feel would be a drastic change is that some part of the US government that wasn't the APA or the future PUSA survived, away from the bombs and EMPs and refugees. But if you can tolerate that than that's fine, little else would be changed. It was psuedo-absorbed by the ECF, so its not like it rose to become a world-recognized remnant US power, its just the name of an autonomous remnant government for the Carribean US Islands. But please, if nobody objections in the next few days or so than graduate it if you may. Arstar 04:41, November 1, 2010 (UTC)
- It is not a "drastic change," but just an assumed remnant organized outside of the APA (just like all the other US survivor states. It actually fits better into the original scheme than does theu restored USA. The fact that it is recognized as an observer at the LoN gives it an edge over the Torrington government, in fact. About the time Bush found out about the USAR (or its components before it formed organizationally), he had lost contact with the survivors in the Plains. He forgot Cheyenne Mountain and tried to ignore the USAR as it formed.
- The USAR actually was not an official arm of the USA, but rather an independently formed organization of stranded Americans. The fact is the US Virgin Islands became home of that organization and merged with it politically. It worked well, so the ECF worked with it. It actually made Bush's job a lot easier, for he did not have to deal with "running" a government half way around the world. Strictly speaking, the government of Puerto Rico - much larger than that on the Virgin Islands - was "part of the US government" as well. That government chose to go independent, the Virgin Islands, though, remained "American" when they saw that there were Americans that were there to support them.
- I will remove the Proposal Banner and we will see what happens. SouthWriter 16:19, November 1, 2010 (UTC)
Michigan
In case you did not notice I had gotten the article started before you saved your revision, and sorry to delete your revision but I do really want to work on this one as I had some ideas for the state government. Also, I had listed Ann Arbor as being nuked as it is home to quite a bit of manufacturing, but don't worry I will re-add some of the elements you had in your revision. Arstar 05:19, November 1, 2010 (UTC)
Um the map of Toledo and the chart are contradicting so that's why I included Ann Arbor as a strike, but I will bring it up with JackOfSpades. And Lansing was heavily damaged by the other two strikes, and was subsequently abandoned, but wasn't necesarilly a primary or even secondary target and thus was spared from a direct strike. But it was still somewhat irridated. Besides the Superior article mentions explorers going through the "ruins of Lansing" so I built that up, but don't worry its not like I'm going to start some sort of Republic of Lansing any time soon :) Arstar 19:52, November 1, 2010 (UTC)
Crap, I just lost a whole revision I was going to save here but all I was going to say was that two nearby hits would do just as much damage as a direct hit, but it goes along with the canon that Superior forces explored the interior of the ruins of Lansing. Like I said I'm not nation building here I'm just seeing if I could come up with a unique situation for the capital that isn't cookie cutter, direct hit, etc. Besides most of the buildings and factories would have collapsed regardless following years of neglect, fires, and even immediate damages from the blasts. That's all I'm trying to say here... Arstar 02:32, November 2, 2010 (UTC)
Vex's Mesage
I make small edits, such as full stops, spaces, the occasional punctuation correction and so-so sized edits. Most of the edits I make are small and would go unnoticed if you did not know where to look for them. The badges are a bonus but not why I have been editing those 1983 articles
~Vex
My 1983 edits
Taking on-board what you have said, I have made some significant changes to one of the 1983 pages and I am planing to make more changes to te page I editied. They will not be small piddly little changes, hopefully they will not be edited out by other editors and will be allowed to stay ~Vex
Re:Ofa tag
That's alright, I'm not offended. I never got the email saying there had been an edit. Unfortunately neither South or I have had the chance to edit it recently but we'll hopefully finish it soon. --Zack 15:55, November 3, 2010 (UTC)
- I didn't get the email either. Apparently the page is not among my "watched" pages that should send me alerts. I was going to add results of the referendum on the ballot along with election results in state elections (both within the USA and without). The proposal to accept the mantle as the "official" USA passed with only one wrinkle (this just came to me): the majority vote among Absarokans overwhelmingly is against it. A successionist movement there may move to join Lakotah as soon as the logistics of it can be worked out. President Campbell is disappointed at that "his people" would chose to withdraw from the USA, but he has advised both Congress and the LoN's that this is acceptable to the USA.
- By the way, the "nine star circle" flag will remain as voted upon by a plurality of 41 percent. It is hoped that negotiations with Oklahoma may even pre-empt having to produce a single eight-star flag! SouthWriter 21:35, November 3, 2010 (UTC)

Found out who'd sent it (saw that you'd already seen it) i've left a return message (turned out i had written something on the page but how it was missiterpretated as abusive is beyond me!) if he/she sends another one i'll report it (if you dont see it first). i dont like being talked to in that way when i didn't do anything wrong!--Smoggy80 15:39, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Question?
I've archived sections of my Cleveland page onto their own page (like a royalty page and history 1984-95 etc) do i need to put the proposal stamp on them? because they've just been copied from the main page and transfered over and not newly created?--Smoggy80 19:15, November 11, 2010 (UTC)
i don't think i'll be adding a huge amount of info to the pages (might do some minor editing) the news page will be added to but only with stuff from the main page at the end of the year, the royalty page might get something added early next year (i have something planned for the royals) --Smoggy80 19:36, November 11, 2010 (UTC)

A Minor Issue
I'm sorry to bother you with something petty, but this is getting annoying. Lordganon has continued to remove a post I made on the 1983DD NewsHour. While he may have issue with it, he is still not allowed to unilaterally remove my posts to a public timeline page, at least from all the rules I have read. If he has an issue with it, he can bring it up on the talk page and it can be discussed. So could you reverse his changes and tell him to stop? Caeruleus 23:11, November 12, 2010 (UTC)
His post is merely designed to start the "war" he so gleefully wants. It is also a direct response, given the timeframe, to the opposition I gave to the two articles on the regular talk page which I asked to be made obsolete.
He has made an arbitrary decision to do this, in an area completely outside of his control, without consulting anyone else.
Current canon dictates, as he has neglected to read or research at all (AGAIN) that the places he mentions have no one there. Two are in an area explored by Greek troops, and the others were under direct fallout from the strike on Bursa, in southeast Bulgaria. By the timeline now in place for the Rhodope articles, the two in northeast of Bursa also have Rhodopian forces in the region as well, even if not written in completely quite yet (The mission is discussed, without a mention of pirates).
He also claims that it is an action against pirates, but none are mentioned anywhere in any articles. And in that area, they would have been made non-existent years ago by the Greeks, if not by others. That's notwithstanding the inability of Turkish forces to actually undergo such an operation and that any such pirates would have been mentioned elsewhere.
He himself stated it was a "casui beli" against the nations in the area in one of his edits to said pages.
No one has argued, reversed, or had issue with my removing it besides him - and I'm surely not the only one to notice.
In short, he is essentially trying to make others do as he wishes for this "war", and violating canon. It is obvious, and that is why I did it. He should have discussed, asked, or anything, about this, but did not.
Lordganon 23:21, November 12, 2010 (UTC)
Actually...no...
The cacus belli I was talking about was the issue of piracy as an excuse to expand into the Balkans, not starting a war with anyone. Also, there's obviously someone there. Everyone there wouldn't have just died or left, but if they did, they would just be seizing empty ports in which case you could have just mentioned that I would have changed it.
Also, if it isn't written, its not canon. Therefore you can't hold me to a requirement I couldn't have possibly known about. Also, even if the requirement did exist, only the two northern towns would have had a troop presence in which case you should have, once again, notified me of this so I could change it appropriately.
Piracy is an assumption because it is something that would obviously occur. In any area without organized naval patrols or controlled coastlines, piracy arises (see OTL Somalia and the Straits of Malacca). And if its a cacus belli, the pirates don't actually have to exist. It could just be one rouge ship that the Turks deem "pirates" and use it as an excuse to invade.
Despite any errors I may or may have not made in the post, you still cannot unilaterally remove it. That's against the rules. You can bring it up on the talk page and point out any errors, in which case it can be edited or remove if there were blatant violations. Caeruleus 23:50, November 12, 2010 (UTC)
Funny how none of that actually went against my response. Seriously, Caer. Actually look at the other articles in the area, it is obvious to me that you don't actually look at them in making this.
You put something that violated canon on the page, and I removed it. It is up to you to bring it up and fix it, as no one else took issue with it being removed.
Lordganon 00:05, November 13, 2010 (UTC)
I posted a message on your Talk page and you failed to respond. And you still can't remove it yourself. If you think it violates canon, you must post the objection on the talk page. That's why I even brought this up. If you had bothered to respond, we wouldn't be having this discussion. And so far, nothing you said has stated it violates canon. You've merely said it needs to be edited, which would have been fairly simple to explain to me if you had bothered to respond.
And please point out the passage in which this Rhodope mission to the area is mentioned. I read the article and saw no mentioning of it. Caeruleus 00:14, November 13, 2010 (UTC)
You failed to give me a chance to respond. This is simply another version of that Celtic stuff Arstar did a couple months back, no matter how he denies it.
I listed several ways in which it violated canon, not my fault if you didn't read the thing and missed them. You want the thing to pass? Move it to the Med. somewhere, as the Black Sea is covered with both completely depopulated zones and other nations.
Try the war article.
I am no longer responding to this until Mitro does, lest my temper get to me.
Lordganon 00:39, November 13, 2010 (UTC)
- I gave you 24 hours to respond. I posted it twice, you removed it twice. I posted on your talk page. 24 hours, I posted it again. And you were online in between that time.
- And so far, you've only proved that it needs to be limited to the southern two towns I listed, since they apparently have Rhodope outposts for which I've yet to see evidence. But once Mitro addresses the technicality, we'll address the content elsewhere so we're not spamming his talk page. Caeruleus 00:57, November 13, 2010 (UTC)
- The newshour page is a unique part of this TL. Despite the fact that it is not an article, the information added to it can violate canon or be implausible. Because of the fact that it would look bad to start putting proposal templates on every headline, we have in the past allowed members to hide or remove headlines that may violate canon/plausibility, at least from the objecting editor's pov. The offending headline, IMO, should be hidden (easier to return to the headline than removing it) for the time being and your dispute should be brought to the attention of the community main TL talk page. Leave it to consensus to decide whether the headline should remain. Mitro 12:43, November 13, 2010 (UTC)
Saying Aloha
Hello, hey Mitro, have you ever heard of harry turtledove?
Harry Turtledove
I love the worldwar series he wrote and it's amazing potrayal of the alien invasion of earth and the aftershocks
Elizabeth City
Good job on the update! Regarding Brazil, when I wrote that bit into the WCRB article I was working with what I understood to be canon. Realistically, the Brazilian ship should have informed its government of the existence of Elizabeth City and sought to help in whatever way it could. I thought that writing that into the article would greatly conflict with what was understood about America at the time (the same reason I originally wrote West Texas as isolationist). Being that the Brazilian faux pas is canon, however, we need to explain it.
Could the officers on board the Brazilian ship have understood the airship manufacturing facilities' existence as showing that the United States had survived and was somehow getting back on its feet? Did Brazil believe that there was some sort of strategic advantage in knowing about Elizabeth City and the rest of the world being in the dark? Perhaps Brazil, being aware of West Texas, (probably) Louisiana and other probable survivor states along the Gulf, thought the other Americans would find Elizabeth City soon enough?
Hopefully that's helpful in determining exactly why Brazil did what it did in canon. BrianD 17:31, November 23, 2010 (UTC)
Your idea is much better than mine! Let's go with that. My understanding - given that the creator of Outer Banks likely has abandoned the wiki - is that Outer Banks claimed Elizabeth City, but Elizabeth City didn't meekly go along with the claim. The two are independent, and cordial. The in-canon advocates in Outer Banks that sought to aggressively claim Elizabeth City have backed off. Talk has now switched to furthering relations with the Blue Ridge/East Tennessee/Piedmont/Rome alliance and, of all things, reestablishing North Carolina as a viable state.
There's a monkey wrench in there: rumors of an Appalachian Alliance that, interestingly enough, has popped up on Arstarpool's to-do list. I have no idea what he plans regarding it, and how it would affect Elizabeth City and Outer Banks. BrianD 18:17, November 23, 2010 (UTC)
CrimsonAssassin
I have been having problems with CrimsonAssassin on the Imperial Europe Map Game. I had founded a colony in the western New Mexico/Arizona region, and he has repeatedly refused to acknowlege it's existance. But he insists I'm the one commiting vandalism every time I delete a map that refuses to acknowlege the colony's existance. Could you help me sort this out?

USSR pre-DD
To the best of your knowledge has anyone done a USSR page (pre-DD upto DD and after effects) a bit like the one i've done for the UK? i've had a good look round on the site and the only Soviet pages i can find are post DD Soviet states.
It's just i was thinking everyone seems to be doing pages for the main 'Allies' (USA, Canada, UK ect) and not many for the main 'Axis' state (USSR) in World War III (doomsday). So if there isn't already an existing page, i'll set one up and contact the editors of the post DD Soviet States for any info they've got.--Smoggy80 15:16, November 29, 2010 (UTC)
Sideways Earth
Hi, Mitro. I've noticed taht you have been adding the "Sideways Earth" category tag to my articles. What do you think so far? I can see while writing these preliminary articles that this "alternate history" is going to be a lot harder than I imagined. India as we know it would not develop, while Russia would become a temperate zone open to great possibilities. Southern "Siberia" would be a tropical paradise from which the original "Americans" would migrate. I have just completed an overview of the history up to about the 16th century period of the present era.
As it stands, Europe is on the verge of exploration of lands to the "south," though Greenland has already been colonized and gained independence from the Scandanavian union (in TTL in southern Europe and quite temerate). On the other side of the world, Indonesians have spread all the way to what we call Anarctica, and are the equivalent of what Europeans would find in the south Pacific in OTL.
I am open for suggestions and colaboration from any and all comers in order to make this altenate world as much like ours as is possible given the geographic changes. SouthWriter 20:44, November 30, 2010 (UTC)
New Map Game
Mitro, I am going to start a map game similar to Ancient times map game. All I have to do is create rules and player slots and requirements and add it to the category map games and I have created a map game, right?

Fixed borders
I am really happy right now. I don't know if you have noticed, but when the new look came out, the borders were removed. So if you put a border around a flag, it wouldn't show the border. Well, after talking with people over on Community, I found a code that will bring them back. I hope you don't mind, but I added the code to the css, so all of this wiki can have them back. --NuclearVacuum (Talk) 16:21, December 1, 2010 (UTC)
Red Dawn
Regarding the new Red Dawn Tl, do you have any recommandation as to where to put it? It is the result of a rather long thread on Alt History.Com.
Stirling Awards
Thank you Mitro. I'm very glad to hear it.
I am worried about clutter though. Should the nominations page be separate from the actual awards page, where everyone will cast their votes? I think that the system we've always used for voting on this site isn't adequate. Would it be alright if I submitted an alternate design for the Stirling Awards page to you? I should have it done by the end of the week.
John, aka Red VS Blue 03:55, December 2, 2010 (UTC)
I didn't help create it, but I contribute to the thread it is devedoped from. The reason I haven't been around lately is that the new site layout is really unweildy, and I don't know how to change it bak.HAD 17:50, December 2, 2010 (UTC)
- Might I suggest that to draw some attention to the Stirling Awards a noticeable paragraph on the subject should be added to the Main Page? Also, I've made some additions to the existing awards. Any thoughts? If you're not too busy. :)
- Which reminds me! Congratulations on your wedding that's coming up! It's comforting to see that there's hope for us althistory nerds :P In all serious though, Congratulations! =) Red VS Blue 03:07, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
Alright, but that begs the question. Do you intend for the Lifetime Achievement Awards to be only given out once, or will they be given out again each year? If its given out each year there could be some interesting "facing the reigning champion" situations that could play out in the next Annual awards.
Go ahead with the announcement Mitro. Let the voting begin!
Red VS Blue 22:33, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
I'm looking for your opinion, should Stirling nominations for one award be closed at a certain number? I don't see a problem now, but nominations will be going on for another 18 days or so.
Red VS Blue 03:00, December 13, 2010 (UTC)
We have somethnig to talk about
Hello Mitro. Let me begin by saying that whenever I refer to you as "Your Mitroness" I am not being sarcastic, for I have always held you in the highest reverence, and still do. Now, on to business.
Indeed, a substantial amount of these 12,000 articles are not under my control. It would be wrong of me to try to claim ownership/transfer these without even asking permission, and I am sorry. Those days ago, when I was furious at the contributor for making something so (In my eyes) heinous, I may have overreacted. You see, starting a new wiki seemed like such a good idea at the time, but now I see that unlike most wiki's, where contributors are at most silent guardians who improve grammar, add content, and undo vandalism, then fade into the night like Batman, here on the AH wiki, everyone more or less owns their own articles, which means that rather than everything belonging to the community, (Like some sort of Communist society!) Everyone has carved out their own little chunk of AH. (Like America!)
I was wrong, Mitro, I overreacted, and I was a fool. I have seen the error of my ways. Alas, I have created a monster and am unable to stop it! It is no longer up to me which articles get transferred, I just emailed the technical support with the old wiki and new wiki address, and that was it. Now they are on their way with their army of bots (Or, that's what I would assume, no one man could possibly copy/paste 12,000 articles.) and it has grown beyond my control. Like Dr. Frankenstein, I am powerless to stop my abomination from destroying the village.
Also, I am either in the worst juxtaposition of all time, with the Wikia borders having disappeared less than a week after my rebellion, or am in the best juxtaposition, with Wikia undoing some of their evil just after I threat to rebel.
I am sorry for overreacting, Mitro.
I will do my best to stop my creation (And Arstar) from destroying everything, and when all is said and done, I will once again be helping this wiki alongside the TSPTF (I don't think you'd want an Ex-conspirator as a constable)
Can you forgive a fool like me, Mitro?

Hey Mitro, I am thinking about returning to the TSPTF sometime this month, as school work is starting to wane since Winter Break is approaching. League of Nations
Fisrt of all, let me apologize for what happened with the 9/11 article. I did not mean to send that impression to you, and I apologize. However, that isn't the main reason I'm here.
At the school I go to, we have a Model United Nations program. We do simulations and contests as real world nations, argue, write resolutions, basically everything the real UN does. Once a year, we have a simulation that is just our group. It is for getting the new people insight into how a simulation works, and just to have fun. This year, I decided to try and have us do something different. My first idea, which was no longer existing countries, fell through, so then I said to myelf, "Why don't we do Alternate History Model UN?" Since none of my TL's are finished, I decided to use a TL that was done already, namely 1983: DD. It also helps that DD already has a version of the UN in it. What is it that I should know if I'm going to use the League in a simulation? And what topics would be good to use? Azecreth 15:22, December 9, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I did state that Alaska would be independent. My thoughts would be that with Russia being dominate in Antarctica, Russia would have enough means and power to keep its claim in North America. As to whether it becomes a communist state or a democracy, I am still debating with myself. If anything, I tend for it to be a White Russian stronghold (but not as radical as Bellinsgauzenia) and would express democracy and pro-US sentiment. Mitro, I think that he/she might be Owen1983. He asked me on my talk page, "how do u play your imerpail europe 2 game?". He has really crappy spelling and grammar. Also, he said on your talk page that he would like to fix any articles on England. Notice that Owen1983 lived in Manchester. I mean, he didn't come talk to you declaring that banning Owen was unfair (That would have made it obvious), and he's not making pointless edits really, but he's still been warned Alaska (Great White South), and he's sort of been annoying. He also seems to be into 1983: Doomsday. So your opinion? I really don't know, since I wasn't around when Owen was, just read his talk, etc, but I think it might be another sock-puppet. Calthrina950
I'm messaging with respect to User:Calthrina950. She's been doing althist on Novelas, and noted being banned here as the reason for writing such on Novelas rather than here. Personally, we haven't had the issues you seemed to have here. I understand there's an issue when users are harrassing others, but it should be understood that millenia long bans can be seen as excessive. I'm curious as to whether you'd be willing to consider lifting Calthrina's ban given improved behavior at NovelasUser:Serprex 04:37, February 19, 2011 (UTC)
I read some of the history, though it's good to get a summary. I'm personally an atheist who lives in Canada, though conversation has been sparse. I haven't heard too much of Calthrina's side, only that she claims to understand where she went wrong (She didn't explicitly ask for my vouching for her ban be lifting.) You might consider that if you do lift her ban, you might still restrict her from participating in Map Games, or maintain a block on emailing users. I notice that this isn't like most of the blocks that have occured on Novelas, where it's one admin with a grudge, but my main goal is that Calthrina's althist content can live on althist rather than Novelas. I'm not looking to get her integrated into this community, just at a point where coexistence can occurUser:Serprex 15:08, February 19, 2011 (UTC)
I figured enough was said, but Calthrina asked I at least convey her response. Since this is a matter of Calthrina finding a place where her work belongs, would you have suggestions for where else would be a good place for her to publish althist?User:Serprex 18:36, February 19, 2011 (UTC)

I want to contribute as much as my schedule will allow, and I was thinking about the responsibilities I signed up for and that I haven't been pulling my weight. Even though you got it yourself, I figured I'd answer ya anyways.
I have not found a way to see the IP of an actual user on here - though you seem to have done so, so there must be a way.
You must already have a locater or something handy, but the one I use - http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm is very accurate.

Martial Arts
Hi. You might have seen me around the site. One idea I came across for Doomsday was to explore how martial arts would be different. It is likely that several new styles would emerge for people in difficult situations like how Krav Maga emerged in Czechoslovakia. Yes the ubiquity of guns would make martial arts less useful, but most people would want a Plan B if for some unknown reason they decide not to carry a gun 24/7. I am also interested to find out what would become of existing widespread styles such as Taekwondo, and how they would adapt to the situation. In some countries I could even see self-defence as a part of educational curriculum. I wanted to run this by you before starting any articles so I could know if you had any ideas or suggestions. Thanks! Detectivekenny (Info; Talk) 22:50, March 21, 2011 (UTC)
Ok, cool. I'll probably be picking out some survivor countries as thriving centres of martial arts and deal with new styles on a worldwide basis, so if there are any canonicity or plausibility issues, let me know. Detectivekenny (Info; Talk) 22:56, March 23, 2011 (UTC)

Warning
Mitro, I was not calling anyone out. I simply meant, that as I bring my poltics in the timeline, they bring "some" of theirs, and these poltics make me call for the US, while their poltics make them refuse it. I am not making a personal attack because they dont support my vision. Yes, I agree personal attacks should be kept out of this wiki. God Bless the United States of America 05:11, March 27, 2011 (UTC)
Mitro, I already said I didnt mean it as that. I did not lash out at the editors, nor do I hate the way its going. I did however state that I feel some (Not All) of the Editors that attempt to stop it do sometimes suggest they have socialist tendencies, and as such by those tendencies (although rare) seem to suggest they refuse the rise of the US, which would undoubtly be a Capitalist. Some of the stuff said to me when I firsted started here could be considered personal attacks, but I knew meant good, and were just stating their opinion on me and the facts on what I had said. If what I have said lately has been considered "Unwikish", then I regret it is seen that way. God Bless the United States of America 05:47, March 27, 2011 (UTC)
Mitro, how many times do I have to say I didn't mean it as a insult! This arguement is going nowhere, and I have already stated I didnt mean it as a insult. The only reason I even said communism was because the Communist USSR is still around. I also think you telling me to leave just because I stated my opinion is completely unfair. As I recall, you want time said I was blinded by my Nationlism, I could have taken that as a Personal Attacl, but I knew you were stating your opinion and I took it as a joke. Calm down, I was only stating my opinion to another editor, and I did not metion any names, for all you guys know I could have been talking about the Queen of England. Lets move on from this, as I have already said I am sorry, and it wont happen again. God Bless the United States of America 06:06, March 27, 2011 (UTC)

But that matters not. I will miss you, Mitro. We will miss you.
You were there when vandalism struck, when disputes broke out.
You were there when we needed light, and were in darkness.
You were there when a page needed a category, or someone simply needed a friend.
You've been not just a backbone and guardian of this community since before I knew what the Wikia Network was, but also a figure we look up to, a big brother, of sorts.
We've had our differences, but Mitro, I have always thought of you as the soul of this community. I don't know how we'll got on without you, but I'm sure we will.
Rest in peace, my friend, it is time for you to be the Admin of your life, to categorize friend and foe, and to comment on the talk page of your career.

John F. Kennedy, Jr.
I feel foolish. When I wrote concerning my ideas about JFK (Mar 26), I had not read your additional bit in the article (Mar 23). For some reason I had only read the opening paragraph. However, you said you would adjust the article to match my remarks posted in the news feed (I also incorporated them in the USA article). As is, what you had written, and I had not read, says nothing at all about the a law degree or a doctorate.
As it was written, in deed, it leaves no room for the brilliant lawyer and civil rights activist that I present in the news feed and the article. What you have written is an opportunist politician, a liberal working for a moderate, who quickly forms contrary opinions to Bush (1987). Etc.
I think that Kennedy can do a better job as an outsider -- he had chosen to be such in OTL -- rather than an insider. Is it okay if I rework the article - it still being just a proposal - or should I reword the new feed and USA articles? I don't really want to put up a stink as to the viability of Kennedy being there "all along" in the APA with no mention until now. I know the CRUSA has been there as well, but it was proposed that he had just recently become the chairman. If he had been Bush's right hand man, he would have been chairman of CRUSA long ago.
Thank you for what you did while on the TSPTF, and I wish you the best as you get in to 'real life.' Drop by when you can. --SouthWriter 01:49, April 4, 2011 (UTC)
UPDATE: I am going to rewrite the article, having JFK serve with Bush after he has earned his law degree in India. Then, I can have him return to New Zealand in 1995 to earn his doctorate. That way, he can join the CRUSA in 2000 or so, going on to rise in the ranks to become the chairman in 2010. SouthWriter 18:10, April 7, 2011 (UTC)

How do you make a national info box without having the name of the article at the top?Bobalugee1940 01:59, May 9, 2011 (UTC)

With Your Consent
Can I add some information and some pictures on the World War II(USSA). The Reason why because I done some research on the real war and there would be some things as Germany would still invade Russia because of they were part of gaining living space for the Reich not because they were communists. The Duma would have purged the Military because there would have been some reds hiding there, prompting the Duma to purge.

Timelines
You have some good timelines that you had never worked on. Is it possible your timelines can be adopted now?
RandomWriterGuy 22:57, November 29, 2011 (UTC)
Ukraine or The Ukraine
The first of those is by an admitted Ukrainian nationalist, and quotes more or the same, by and large. That stems from the desire of Ukrainians to differentiate themselves from Russia, and to lose what they perceive as a derogatory addition to the name of their country (if you look into it, it's basically because of the origins of the word coming from the Russian word for "borderlands")
The second one is merely stating an extension of that - i.e. the desire of the Ukrainian government to lose that aspect of their past, and the Soviet/Russian stereotypes imposed on them. Also add to that that they feel it makes them seem uneducated.
There is debate on the subject, true. Both are, in fact, proper in many regards. But in a list like that, it is more correct to use "the."
At any rate, looking at the article in question, I find that you are the author. So, I will not fix it any longer - if you want the error to persist, persist it shall.

Second opinion
Hey, Mitro. I don't think we've ever talked before, but I had a question ask you. I just wanted a second opinion about my timeline and its ASB labeling. To put it briefly, I changed Montcalm Survives around, so that France wins Seven Years' War and not just the French and Indian War. The way I made them win was that there was an "unexpected change in weather patterns" around the British Isles, leading to a disrupted navy and eventually their loss. It was then tagged ASB, with arguments that "an event like that is ASB" and history will "drastically change" because of it. I just wanted to know, do you agree with that? Even if the POD can be considered slightly ASB that the whole timeline is ASB, even if the events that follow aren't? Thanks for your input. ChrisL123 02:25, January 30, 2012 (UTC)

No Cross, No Crown
Hi, Mitro. What do the "No Cross, No Crown" rules mean? Ganon has deleted an old blog of mine on the basis that we cannot discuss religion in a blog. I pointed out that deletion is not for blogs anyway. I also pointed out that when it comes to deletion of articles and/or time lines, NCNC is listed as a BAD REASON for deleting those.
There have been very few deletions and hardly any NCNC discussions, but suddenly a new Lieutenant finds this blog and marks it for deletion. I point out that this is improper and cite the guidelines, removing the delete template. Almost immediately, Ganon deletes the blog and the edit war begins.
You thought the blog was in "violation" of the principle, but after a little discussion you let it go on. If nothing else, this has gone beyond "Play Nice." I look forward to your opinion on this. SouthWriter 04:26, April 23, 2012 (UTC)
South is out to lunch, Mitro. The rules clearly state that NC/NC applies to everything that is not an article or timeline, and is a valid reason for deletion. He, for some reason, has got it in his head that it doesn't apply to blogs, despite the rules clearly stating that it does. Seems to think he's special.
Moreover, he's been shoving words in your mouth - you never did anything one way or the other about it.
Lordganon 05:07, April 23, 2012 (UTC)
This issue came up when the blog was posted like two years ago, and we ruled that it was fine because of the tone of the post. The resulting discussion was also fantastic and answered a lot of questions for a lot of people from both sides of the fence. Sadly, moving from the blog seems to have lost all that discussion. Personally, I think its ridiculous to bring up something that was settled 2 years ago.Oerwinde 05:40, April 23, 2012 (UTC)
No one ruled anything about it at the time, or since, until now. Which ignored, may I add, the fact that it is without question a violation of NC/NC. Lordganon 05:54, April 23, 2012 (UTC)
To quote the guideline page:
"Generally, it means that discussions of religion ("Crosses") and politics ("Crowns") ought to be avoided, or at least approached with caution. "
"Adapted to alternate history, the rule can be summed up like this: discussions on religion and politics should center on our fictional timelines and not devolve into debates on politics and religion in real life (OTL). It's a blurry distinction, definitely not a precise one, and as we talk about other timelines, some discussions on controversial topics in OTL are inevitable. That's why it's a general rule of thumb or a guideline, not an ironclad law."
There is no outright ban. And as the discussion remained civil (mostly), and resulted in rare discussion between groups that usually don't get along when discussing such things, there is no need for deletion. And again, there was no issue then, and the discussion ended almost 2 years ago, so its silly to bring it up now that the discussion is over.Oerwinde 06:24, April 23, 2012 (UTC)
....
"Mostly?" That discussion wasn't civil at all. Your own posts in it even confirm that.
Notice how I didn't bring it up? And that it has become an issue again anyways?
As noted, there always needs to be some room for discussion of such matters, because it impacts on our writing. Yet, this has nothing to do with writing, and only consisted of a series of arguments, and preaching.
Simple fact is that it is an extreme violation. And, South has shown a complete lack of understanding of the concept. Hell, he wrote in that thing originally that he was doing it to avoid a violation - when in fact he was creating one, and it would have been fine had it been left on talk pages between him and X.
Moreover, no ruling was ever made originally. Whatsoever.
Add to that that South, for some reason, has entirely ignored the guidelines and claims that as a blog, it's not eligible for deletion under the rules. Yet, there is entirely no question that they are and that it is only articles and timelines that cannot be removed for NC/NC problems. And this is something, fyi, that he himself has insisted on in the past.
Lordganon 07:32, April 23, 2012 (UTC)
It has become an issue because the blog was deleted when it didn't need to be, end of story. The guidelines frown on NCNC, but its not explicitly against the rules, the deletion template and subsequent deletion were in error, that is what led to the current discussion. None of the mods at the time gave a flying whatsit about the discussion, so while there was no formal ruling on anything, the fact that every mod gave it a pass despite it being one of the most active pages on the wiki at the time, says that it was ok. Either way, rather than clutter Mitro's talk page, I'm going to move this to the TSPTF talk page. Oerwinde 08:16, April 23, 2012 (UTC)

Wikia App
Hi Mitro! (and other admins of AltHistory)
Did you know that approximately half of the visits across Wikia are coming from mobile devices? To support that mobile traffic, Wikia is creating iOS and Android apps that focus exclusively on individual communities.
We are happy to inform you that your community has been selected to receive a dedicated community app. This means that you will have an app exclusively for your community that you, the admins, can curate!
Please see this help page that will explain how and where to manage your content in your community app, and also ways to promote your Community App on your own community.
If you have any questions about the Community App itself, how to manage content on it, or how to promote it, please write in to Special:Contact.
Thanks for being an exceptional community! Good luck with the app!

Where could I improve?
I have a scenario Here and I was looking at the experts page where you are under. I was wondering could you read it so far (I'm no-where near done) and could you recomend if something needs to be added, certain things that just wouldn't happen ect.
Basic summary of it (inc. areas not yet covered)
- Mongol Empire never splits or falls (Atleast untill 18th-20th century)
- The Mongols conquer most of Europe
- Europe is almost wiped out by the Black death, the mongols help in the rebuilding and move there in a mass migration, leaving the future generations cultrally Mongol
- African Trade Powers rise
- Khmer empire never falls
- The Mongols adopt more control as empire ruled by a (group of) peoples.
- The African Powers, Asian Powers and the Mongols colonize the new world just as the Europeans did in OTL
Areas I think i could improve
- the effects of Mongolization on intermational affairs
- Cultural and political impact
- Realityness
Thanks for reading,

- Are you sure you are talking to the right person? I don't have any maps on this site. Mitro (talk) 21:27, September 18, 2015 (UTC)
Re:Russian America Map
Thank you so much for messaging me (it's been quite a while).
As for your request, I would be honored for you to use my map. I even took the liberty to update it for your page. The only thing I request is a link to your finished episode upon its completion.
Best wishes. -- NuclearVacuum 05:06, October 22, 2015 (UTC)
- I can't thank you enough for using my timeline. Your video also gave me a few ideas to add to the timeline, so I truly hope you don't mind me using them. Please keep up the great work. *Still screaming internally like a fanboy* -- NuclearVacuum

Hey you known how you said you were making Never Ending Great War a way to explain Iron Storm, well check it out now Mr. I left it at 1944
Hey Mitro
Just want you to know I really like Franz's world. I read your stunningly accurate account of the fall of our wiki. I just want to say that I would like to (with the help of a more expienced user) write something about youth in alt hists and the rise of map games. I'm sorry if you don't like my idea and to waste your time. OCT MARIUS, Hail Marius
I have Imperium on borad. OCT MARIUS, Hail Marius
Naming
Excuse me my good sir, I have a question, you gave me the welcoming comittee here and I appreciate it. Now I have a question about the naming rule. Since my "World of Alternatives" is my timeline I want to name my countries like the United States of Columbia (WOA) because WOA obviously stands for World of Alternatives. Can I do that? because none of the naming rule says I can't.
Dear Mitro,
I am an Indian althist and I would like to collaborate since i know almost nothing about drawing maps , or making alternate people's pictures. I am a huge fan of your content, both on your blog and on YouTube. Please do help me.Bender123 (talk) 07:02, January 15, 2018 (UTC)

1983 Doomsday article adoption
Hi there! I was wondering if you'd be okay with me adopting the articles for the United States and George HW Bush in the 1983 Doomsday story. I put in requests on the Talk pages for both articles and I saw that you're the original creator for both. I hope you're doing well and wish you all the best! Hello again, are you still working on the Union Interim Parliament page? If not, I'd like to make a request to adopt it. I'd like to continue the story to the present day and also fill in a lot of cultural details. Another detail, if the community finds this acceptable, is that I think by 2020 this government wouldn't be calling itself "Interim" anymore. At this point, according to the canon map, it controls the vast majority of India's former territory, and it's been in power for decades now. I think by now the UIP would probably have dropped the "Interim" name and have started referring to itself as "the Union Parliament of India" or the "Unified Indian Parliament" or just simply have gone back to calling itself the "Republic of India" again. After all, the new version of the United States dropped the "Provisional" part of its name in 2010, so I think there's already precedent in canon for the Indian government to simply refer to itself as one of those names by now rather than as the "Interim" parliament. Best wishes, I hope you're doing well! GryffindorKrypton (talk) 01:24, May 4, 2020 (UTC)GryffindorKrypton
Tagging along, I'm also interested in doing more development of our proud state of Illinois (1983: Doomsday). False Dmitri (talk) 17:44, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
