Venezuela, officially the Republic of Venezuela, is a country in America located in the northern part of South America, consisting of a continental part and a large number of small islands in the Caribbean Sea, whose capital and largest urban agglomeration is the city of Caracas. It is the 32nd largest country in the world by territory. Its borders are delimited to the north by the Caribbean Sea, to the west by Colombia, to the south by Brazil and to the east by Guyana, with whom it maintains territorial disputes. Its population is estimated at 30,400,000 and the national capital is Caracas.

The country is widely known for its vast oil reserves, the environmental diversity of its territory and its diverse natural resources. It is considered a megadiverse country, with a diverse fauna and a wide variety of protected habitats. The colors of the Venezuelan flag are yellow, blue and red, in that order: yellow represents the wealth of the land, blue represents the country's sea and sky, and red represents the blood shed by the heroes of independence.
