Victoria, officially the Commonwealth of Victoria (Spanish:Mancomunidad de Victoria), is a country in North America, it is bordered by New France and Mexico. It is a Federal parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy, headed by the Queen of Victoria, who is simultainiously the Queen of England and other nations.

Initially under Spanish rule, the regions that encompasses modern day Victoria would be ceded in 1851 to Britain following the British-Mexican War, in which the British wanted to gain a land corridor linking the Atlantic and the Pacific, as at the time sailing to Asia was still long and dangerous and the panama canal didn't exist yet. Thus Victoria would become a safe harbour for British Indian goods traveling to Europe.

The largest city is San Francisco with 4.2 million residents and the second largest is Oceanside on the Atlantic with 2.7 million, with Alberta being the capital due to it's relative central location.

The official languages of the country are English and Spanish, but the majority of population speak English, with Spanish being a minory language mainly spoken by the Norteños (Spanish settlers from before the British conquest, called so because they lived in the northern regions of Mexico) and immigrants from latin american countries.

It's currently a member of the Congress of Nations (CoN), the Alliance of Democratic Nations (ADN), the Anglosphere, the North American Compact (NAC) and the American Union (AU).

History[]

British intrests in the pacific[]

With the increased presence of Britian in india and the east indies, as well as the loss of the majority of the british colonies in north america (exept for Rupert's land and the Columbia District), trade with the eastern colonies would become highly important to their econony, and as at the time a journey between europe and east asia would take months to complete, and it was still rather dangerous to travel in open oceans, Britiain would look for ways to make the voyages shorter, cheaper and safer, and thus it looked to establish an Atlantic-Pacific transcontinental pathway, and later railway, in the Rupert's land colony, but it would quickly realised that due to the arctic climate of it's eastern regions, which would prevent the establishment of permanennt ports, pathways and railways. And afther looking at other options (such as colonizing Patagonia), they would decide to expand south from the Columbia District ino the sparsely populated northern territories of Mexico and conquer a region that goes up to the atlantic coast. This would prove to be a challenge in the new world order established by the Congress of Vienna where an invasion like this of a western nation might have been seen as illegitemate and could cause another nation, like France, to invervene. Thus, Ryan Franklin, a brilliant statesman, would realise that as both France and Russia would have increased intrests in the Pacific coast of north america, and that britiain doesn't have a use for most of it's existing north american territories, and he would propose to give parts of it to them, if they would in return support a british invasion of mexico. Initially France would be reluctant to agree, as they still maintaing a largly hostile atitude toward Britiain, but as Russia would be very supportive if it, France would gain valuable territories that it wanted and a better relationship due to the monarchy being supported during the Revolutionary Wars, their opinion would gradually change. Thus after months of negotiationg and considerations, they would sign the Tripartite Agreement on the situation in North America, where they'll agree to support politically and militarily an invasion of Mexico, and in turn after a victory would be achived France and Russia would gain territories from Rupert's land.

Conquest of the territories[]

Lord John Russell, the then prime minister of the United Kningdom, would instruct the army to launch a naval invsion of tejas on the 19th of May 1851, and two days later british troops would cross the border from New France. This would be followed by an invasion of Veracruz, which would march towards Mexico city, as well as an invasion of the Pacific coast, and after two years of war, Mexico would surrender and they'll sign the Treaty of Madrid (1852), in it Mexico would cede large territories in it's northern regions and Britian would pay £14,000,00 to the mexican govenment.

Early British settelment[]

Following the conquest, the newly aquired regions woud be divided into 3 territories, the Territory of California, the Territory of Texas and in between them, the Territory of New Mexico. The former Columbia District would become the Province of Columbia, later expanded and renamimed to New Columbia.
