The Kingdom of America was a nation located in North America that existed from 1783 to 1813.
It was formed after the American Revolution by the founding fathers, who voted George Washington to become “King of the United America and Commonwealth Realms”.
After Washington died in 1799, his adopted son, George Washington Park Custis, became George II. From 1807-1813, the former states started to break away and form independent nations. This left the kingdom with just Virginia, George’s home state. In 1813, the monarchy was abolished, with Virginia becoming part of the Confederate Union of America.
Foreign Relations[]
The Kingdom had negative relations with most of the Europe after its formation.
The United Kingdom felt that the Americans had declared independence in futility. They had elected an illegitimate king to rule over them, so the Brits viewed this as an insult.
France, who became a republic, felt betrayed by America turning toward monarchism instead of Republicanism.
