WWF In Your House: Great White North was a 1995 professional wrestling event put on by the World Wrestling Federation. It was the 7th In Your House event, the 12th and final event of 1995 and the 72nd event overall in the alternate WWF timeline. Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the event was headlined by a WWF title match as Bret "The Hitman" Hart defended against The British Bulldog. Other matches on the card included "The King of Harts" Owen Hart defending the WWF Intercontinental Title against the 1-2-3 Kid, a match between Mr. Perfect and Hunter Hearst Helmsley, and a tag team gauntlet match featuring 10 tag teams competing for a shot at the WWF Tag Team Titles.

Prelude[]

Bret Hart, after regaining the WWF title for a third time, had promised to once again be a fighting champion, and to take on any challenger that he could. A battle royal the night after the Survivor Series named his next contender as The British Bulldog, as he last eliminated Diesel in order to win the title shot at the Great White North. The Bulldog reminded his brother-in-law of the last time they fought for a championship at Summerslam 1992. Bret was also quick to remind him that this time, they were on his home turf in Canada, and that the situation would be very different the second time around.

At the Survivor Series, The Roadie had turned on Double J after enduring one too many of the country star's verbal tirades, smashing a guitar over his head. However, Double J pulled a service contract for the Roadie out, saying that the Roadie couldn't compete in the WWF unless he was in the services of Double J. It also was a "Non-Disclosure Agreement" for something, though Jarrett wouldn't say what. The Roadie appealed to Commissoner Slaughter, who ordered a match between the two, which if Jarrett won The Roadie would be banned from competing for the duration of the contract, and if The Roadie won, he would be a free man.

The week after Survivor Series, Owen Hart had cost the 1-2-3 Kid his Television Title in a match with Shane Douglas as revenge for the Kliq's victory in the Survivor Series match. In subsequent encounters (most notably a six man tag on Raw), the Kid had surprised the King of Harts by scoring a pinfall victory in the match. This made him the unofficial #1 contender to Owen's Intercontinental Title (which he reinforced by defeating The Gladiator the following week on Superstars), setting up this title match at In Your House.

Despite losing at Survivor Series, Mr. Perfect had shown enough to Commissioner Slaughter to grant him medical reinstatement as an active competitor, much to the chagrin of Hunter Hearst Helmsley. The American Blueblood did everything in his power to avoid a match with Perfect, even attacking him during what was supposed to be his return to singles competition on Monday Night Raw. However Perfect perservered and promised to gain his revenge on Helmsley in his first singles match since his return at In Your House.

Event[]

The Free for all match was between two superstars hitherto undefeated in singles competition as Ahmed Johnson took on Goldust. Despite the Bizarre One's attempts to play Mind Games with the Pearl River Powerhouse, Ahmed easily overcame and hit a Pearl River Plunge to Goldust to pick up the victory. The event proper began with Double J taking on The Roadie with the Roadie's career hanging in the balance. If people thought that the Roadie would be swamped by Double J's technical expertise, they were mistaken. The Roadie was the equal of Jarrett, matching him hold for hold and hitting several lefts and rights in a bit of a slugfest. Jarrett could barely keep up, and for a short time it appeared that the Roadie would earn his freedom. However, Double J's penchant for shortcuts paid out in the end as a rookie mistake by the Roadie put him in a pinning predicament. Jarrett used the bottom rope for extra leverage in order to get the three count, ensuring that the Roadie would not be competing in the WWF full time anytime soon.

A Tag Team Gauntlet match was next, with the winning team scheduled to receive a Tag Team Title Shot at the Royal Rumble. The Full Blooded Italians started the match against the Northstar Lumberjacks, with Philippe and Jean-Paul getting the victory over Smothers and Guido. The team formerly known as the Million Dollar Team was next, with Watts and Fortune defeating the Lumberjacks and making short work of Bob Holly and Aldo Montoya. The fifth team however looked to be unbeatable, as Razor Ramon & Diesel teamed up in the gauntlet. After dispatching Watts and Fortune, they then defeated the DOA and PG-13 in short order before coming up against The Bodydonnas. Candido and Radford fared better than their predecessors, isolating Diesel for part of the match before Razor tagged in and looked to finish them off. However a distraction from Sunny followed by miscommunication from Razor and Diesel allowed Radford to roll up the former WWF Champion and score the huge upset, eliminating the Kliq members. After defeating The Thrillseekers, The Bodydonnas final opponents were the Godwinn cousins, Henry and Phineas. The two hog farmers seemed poised to defeat the fitness gurus, but Sunny distracted Phineas at the right moment, allowing Candido and Radford to hit him from behind and then deliver a double DDT to pick up the victory and the title shot.

The next match was for the television title as Shane Douglas defended against Fatu. However to everyone's surprise, Ted DiBiase made his way to ringside with Shane Douglas, stating that Douglas was now "The Franchise" of the Million Dollar Corporation (much to the apparent annoyance of Chris Benoit). Douglas certainly looked like a Franchise Player, making short work of Fatu with little difficulty. The women's title was on the line next as Big Momma Burke defended against Tina Ferrari. Burke's power allowed her to control much of the match, but Tina was able to avoid most big moves and hang in there. She waited for a mistake from the champion, capitalizing when Burke missed a second rope splash and then delivering several strikes before hooking on a sitting armbar in the center of the ring, forcing Burke to tap out and winning the Women's Title for a 2nd time.

The Intercontinental Title was on the line next as Owen Hart defended against the 1-2-3 Kid. The match was almost over before it began as The Gladiator attacked the challenger before the bell, tossing him around the ring and delivering a stiff Powerbomb on the outside. Owen was then methodical in trying to take out the challenger, actually letting up on a pinfall when it seemed like he had the Kid beaten. He would come to regret his overconfidence, as the Kid rallied back and took out both Jim Cornette and Owen Hart with a top rope suicide dive. Both men narrowly avoided a countout as the Kid tried to take advantage of the downed champion, but Owen locked him in the Sharpshooter, seemingly ready to pull to victory. The Kid manage to fight his way to the ropes though and, when Owen argued with the referee, nearly got rolled up by the Kid. A series of near falls followed, with Owen seemingly coming out on top. He tried a Victory Roll, but the Kid sat down on the move and got the quick pinfall, surprising everyone and winning the Intercontinental Title.

Mr. Perfect vs Hunter Hearst Helmsley followed, and in his first singles encounter in over two years, Mr. Perfect looked like he hadn't missed a beat. Before the bell could even ring though, Perfect and Helmsley brawled up and down the entryway and into the back, beating each other off of tables and concrete walls. Once the match did wind up in the ring, Helmsley tried to slink away, only for Perfect to continue to pummel on him. A timely elbow to the eye of the referee "inadvertantly" by Helmsley followed by a lowblow though turned the tide, and Helmsley took control. The American Blueblood wore down Perfect, working over the previously injured back in an attempt to derail his comeback. Perfect however fought back and fought out of a Pedigree attempt to lock in a Perfect-Plex and pick up the pinfall victory after a brutal encounter. The main event followed, and much like their Summerslam match more than three years prior, it was clear that both Bulldog and Bret knew each other very well. The added factor into the equation, Jim Cornette, was rendered moot after Commissioner Slaughter ruled that he was barred from ringside. The Hitman and Bulldog put on a technical classic with several counters to each other, a mirror of their familiarity. Bulldog hit a massive Superplex and got a near fall out of it, and then set up The Hitman for a Running Powerslam, only for Bret to get out of the move and push Davey Boy hard into a turnbuckle. After another series of moves, Bret locked on the Sharpshooter and got the hard earned submission victory to retain the title. However before Bret could celebrate, he was attacked from behind by his previous nemesis, Solomon Jacobs, who came through the crowd and attacked the exhausted champion, chokeslamming him through the announce table and standing over his prone body, holding up the WWF title high into the air to close out the show.

Aftermath[]

Bret would face down his nemesis Solomon Jacobs once more at the Royal Rumble as a result of the attack, this time with the WWF Title at stake. The Royal Rumble match itself would be centered around the return of Shawn Michaels as he came back from "near career threatening" injuries. The tension between Diesel and Razor Ramon would also continue through the Rumble match. The Roadie would be reinstated after "accidentally" ruining the sound mix during one of Double J's concerts, revealing that Jarrett was lip syncing his hit song the entire time and causing Double J to fire the Roadie, allowing WWF to sign him to an active competitor's contract.
