The State of Washington is a state of the United States of America located on the Pacific Northwest coast. The state borders Oregon to the south, Idaho to the east, and British Columbia, Canada to the north. It's capital is Olympia; other cities in the state include Seattle and Tacoma.

It is noteworthy that is called Washington State to differentiate it from Washington, D.C., the nation's capital which is often shortened into Washington.

World War III

The state was one of the two American states attacked and invaded by Soviet Ground Forces during World War III, of which the other was Alaska. Subsequently, Vancouver Island, the major city of Vancouver and the Canadian Province of British Columbia was invaded as well. The Soviets used captured air bases to launch bombing raids to other cities in the American West Coast, namely Portland, San Francisco, Oakland, Stockton, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and San Diego. However, despite the fall of Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia, the Soviets only controlled at most 2/4 of the state. They were unable to push passed the Cascade Mountain Range. U.S. military units, along with remnant law enforcement units and civilian militia, fought a war of attrition against the Soviet invaders. This would pave way for the success of the liberation of Washington, in which reinforcements from the East successfully drove out the Soviets back to the Pacific Ocean.

Modern Times

On September 11, 2001, the city of Seattle was targeted by the World Revolution Army, a Marxist-Leninist terrorist group, because of its significance of American resistance during the Soviet occupation.
