Westcountry Television is the ITV franchise holder for the South West of England, covering Cornwall, Devon, Isles of Scilly, southern and western Somerset, and western Dorset, and the West of England, covering Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset, and Wiltshire. The company replaced its predecessor, TSW (Television South West), from the 1st of January 1993. The station is owned and operated by ITV plc under the licensee of Westcountry Television Limited.
With the formal split of the Wales and West Channel 3 licence in 2009, HTV kept its Wales license, whilst HTV's West licence was merged into that of Westcountry Television. Thus, Westcountry Television had started broadcasts for viewers in the West of England, in addition to the South West.
