Introduction[]

In 1306, after the murder of Elizabeth's brother Wenceslaus, Elizabeth's brother-in-law Henry became King of Bohemia. Elizabeth was now the only single princess in the family, she was fourteen years of age so was a good age to marry and she became one of the key players in the power disputes for the Kingdom of Bohemia. The quarrels of the Bohemian throne between Henry of Bohemia and Rudolph of Habsburg resulted in Rudolph taking Bohemia and marrying Queen Elizabeth Richeza. Elizabeth went to liv in Prague Castle with her brother's widow, Viola Elisabeth of Cieszyn. But in 1307 the throne returned to her brother-in-law and sister, because of Rudolph's death. They wanted Elizabeth to marry the lord of Bergova (Otto of Löbdaburg) for political reasons. Elizabeth refused to marry Otto and so Elizabeth and Anne fell out with each other. An opposition group was formed against Henry and Anne, with Elizabeth as the figurehead, she realized that a foreign royal that is not Slavic will not be popular in the Kingdom and will cause future revolts and she also dreamt about a religious revolt in the future and she also found out that the Henry of Carinthia had her brother, Wenceslaus killed. Elizabeth and her sister Margaret fled to Poland in 1306 and Elisabeth was betrothed to Stephen the son of her father's former enemy, Wladyslaw the Elbowhigh. Elizabeth knew Anna and Henry's weaknesses and this marriage was one of them. In May 1, 1310, Jadwiga of Kalisz gave birth to a son named Casimir. The wedding of Elizabeth and Stephen took place on September 1310, Stephen became the dejure King of Bohemia. This started the doom of the Habsburgs.

Point of Departure[]

Wladyslaw the Elbowhigh's son Stephen of Poland survives in 1306 and later marries Elisabeth of Bohemia, the rival of Henry of Carinthia and Anne of Bohemia in the Bohemian throne.
