Ex-Kaiser Wilhelm II is still living in Exile in the Dutch place of Doorn in 1940. Since the occupation of the Netherlands in May 1940, the place is guarded by the Geheime Feldpolizei. He's declined an offer by Winston Churchill to go into Exile to Great Britain. After Nazi Germany's victories over the Dutch and France respectively, he personally sent congratulatory telegrams to Adolf Nazi, one of them stating "My Führer, I congratulate you and hope that under your marvellous leadership the German monarchy will be restored completely." Unimpressed by this, the "Führer" remarked to his valet Heinz Linge, "What an idiot!"
One of his Sons and eight of his grandsons are fighting for the Wehrmacht.
In 1934, the Nazi Regime had stopped the celebrations for his 75th birthday, and outlawed monarchist Organisations.
