The World Rugby Cup is a men's rugby union tournament contested every year between the top international teams. The tournament was first held in 1902, when the tournament was hosted by France. Starting in 1906 the tournament adopted a biennial format, and a general guideline of alternating the continent on which the tournament is hosted (initially between Europe, Arcadia and the Middle East/Africa).
