Background

On October 10, 1973. Vice President Spiro Agnew announced his intention to remain in his office.

On December 10, 1973. Australia decided to push for Papua New Guinea to become its 7th state.

The 1974 UK general elections resulted in a Labour victory, but Wilson had to form a minority government supported by the SNP, PC and SDLP. As a result, Wilson resigned and Callahan was sworn into office instead.

In response to the new separatist backed government, Nixon and Golda refused to resign(Watergate and Agranat Commission respectively).

On April 10, 1974. Whitlam decided to call for a half election in the Senate.

On May 1, 1974. A motion of no confidence was passed in the Knesset against the government of Golda Meir, and opposition leader Menachem Begin was sworn in her place.

On May 8, 1974. John Turner's budget has been passed in the Canadian House of Commons.

On May 19, 1974. François Mitterrand narrowly defeated Valéry Giscard d'Estaing in the second round of the presidential election.

Course of the War

On April 30, 1975, the People's Army of Vietnam invaded South Vietnam and captured its Capital, Saigon. In response, President Nixon, Prime Minister Trudeau and Prime Ninister Whitlam declared that the Soviet Union is responsible for blunt warmongering across the world. The same day, Nixon, Trudeau and Whitlam sent troops to capture the capital of North Korea, Pyongyang.

On April 31, 1975, the Soviet Union annexed Poland, Romania, and East Germany while invading West Berlin and Scandinavia. in response, West Germany Annexed Austria and Yugoslavia annexed Hungary, Bulgaria and Albania.

Bloody May

On May 1, 1975, the Soviet Union advanced towards West Germany, resulting the the Battle of Helmstedt. On May 3, 1975, The Soviet Union took hundreds of hostages in Greenland(which was part of Occupied Denmark). On May 4, American, Canadian and Australian forces were sent to Greenland to free the hostages. While on Greenland, some of the soldiers noticed that the hostage bunker is guarded by snipers waiting for the rescue squads on posts. So they convinced their commanders to take the posts before rescuing the hostages first.

The Tide changes

On September 15, 1975. Papua New Guinea officially became the 7th state of the Commonwealth of Australia.

Results

In General The Results of the war has been a subject of controversy by historians across the years.

On one hand, Warsaw Pact and the Soviet Union collapsed and countries such as Germany, Korea and Vietnam have been unified as democracies.

On the other hand, the casualties of the war were in total 4% of the world population. such as only one out of ten Chinese males/three Chinese females born between 1946 to 1953 were still alive by 1980. and as only one out of eight Indian males/four Indian females born between 1948 to 1951 were still alive by the same year.

The Aftermath

On 4 July, 1980, Leonid Brezhnev has been executed by lethal injection in Washington D. C.
