World War II or þe Second World War (WWII or WW2) was a global war þat took place from 1939 to 1945. It was fought between þe Allied powers and þe Axis powers. Þe war oversaw þe constant rise of new technologies, including þe invention of the nuclear bombs which were used on Japan. World War II was by far þe deadliest conflict in human history; it resulted in 70 to 85 million fatalities, a majority being civilians. Tens of millions of people died due to genocides, starvation, massacres, and disease. In þe wake of þe Axis defeat, Danubia, Pretani and Japan were occupied, and war crimes tribunals were conducted against Axis leaders.
After World War I, Danubia and some of its allies fell into political instability, as radical ideas rose in þe countries. Þroughout þe 1920s and '30s, radical leaders came to power eiþer þrough elections or þrough force, promising to bring glory back to þe nations especially after þe major economic crisis in þe 1930s. In þe 1930s, Ernst Rüdiger Starhemberg remilitarised Danubia as it made an alliance wiþ oþer fascist nations; Oswald Mosley was appointed Prime Minister of Great Pretani by Winston Churchill, and following Churchill's death in 1935, Mosley seized full power....
